There were many things on the land that was plentiful, but the only thing that she was not able to get was drinking water. Clean drinking water is scarce in her small African village, and as much as she tries to demand for the clean water to come to her, Gie Gie can not do so. Every morning, before the sun rises, Gie Gie and her mother travel to a well to access their everyday water supply. Instead of her wearing a crown on her head, she wears a heavy pot so that she can collect the water. After her journey home, Gie Gie was so thirsty and she had to wait for her mother to clean the water since it was dirty from the dust and sad. Once her mother did so, Gie Gie drank the water, and she thinks what will the next day’s trip to getting clean water will bring for her.
