Large companies and sometimes entire governments exploit public/ social systems to their benefit. For example, when the C.I.A deceived the public into donating to “Radio Free Europe” for a good cause. They made a million dollars on average annually. They set-up advertisement driven fake news. The question I have for you guys is, is that morally ethical?

Fake news affects us indirectly. It can affect the way we think and the way we perceive things, regardless if they are good or bad. We might view something bad in a good way because the fake news is fabricated with lies and the advertisement is in the form of a trusted news article.

I think another way people disregard that they are responsible for fake news is the changing of their identity/ covering up personal information. People as individual or people hired by companies change their identity in order to spread fake news without consequences For example, I might change my name and become very popular on Instagram. People began to think that I was a really good person with good traits. However, no one will know my true identity. I would then begin to post up my opinion on news which is fake. I would start to endorse products and fake new which I claimed to be true. My fans would start to believe my points as a form of confirmation bias because they think I am a truthful and trustworthy source and human being. So how to do we stop ourselves from making biased decisions?

Politically: It can alter the way the community perceives a government official or a prime minister for example. People would be convinced in supporting a government official due to the fact that fake news has changed people's opinions on him/her, making them seem better than how they really are.

Economically: Fake news is usually an advertisement in the form of a news article. This can deceive many people around the world about financial status. An advertisement would usually manipulate the facts into making their product seem like an alternative or a solution to an economic crisis.

Morally: No matter what people say, it will always be morally unethical to present fake news to the public. What makes it unethical is the common inflammation of stories and the fabrication of facts which is considered lying. Large companies usually lie in a way which manipulates the truth rather than making up facts, however there a few which rely on their reputation as a "trusted source" so they are able to get away with making up facts and stories.

-Similar to the way the Miley Cyrus death hoax brought mass panic, it could be a more important topic, even going beyond politics and into law enforcement issues

-Ex: If someone decides to make an entire article of a new law that the government came out with and he knows a lot of people will agree with it, it can cause riot and even internal problems with law enforcement and government tinkling there are spies working among them and causing employment decreases within the organization

-They can put a ban on social media if that is the platform used to make fake news and that will cause more problems within the community and citizens within the country
