As I sit down to pen this message, the autumn sky fades into a cold evening with the last rays of sun illuminating the mighty Himalayas outside. I’d like to draw an analogy between this perceptible season change and myriad hues of life. There will be times which seem difficult and there will be times when happiness abounds. Life will follow its trajectory, shuttling between the ends of this dichotomy. What you must remember is that even in the darkest hour, hope will be imperishable and reside within. You are filled with infinite possibilities. Nothing can change that.  As someone who is still learning about the many nuances of life, perhaps I don’t have many words of wisdom which encapsulate the depth of this thought. So, I’ll leave you with those of Bernard Williams’- “There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.” The Himalayas have remembered it all along…what we need to remind ourselves every day.

I miss all the smiling and cheerful faces, corridor wishes, 'Hi Ms. Preeti', the small jokes we would share, quick short conversations on how your day went, listening to new excuses of coming late to P.E. class, not eating proper food but happily eating papad outside cafeteria or having two or three desserts only (sugar rush). Having been working for seven years now, I have seen some of you grow into fine young responsible adults (Grade 12s). Basketball fans out there: Thank you Grade 3 to 5; 6 to 9; 10 to 12 students for being so passionate in learning to be the best and be in the first five; huge respect to all you. A big thank you for all the support in ASA and taking responsibilities during interschool tournaments. God bless you. My dear students always strive to Be honest; be bold to speak the truth with humility; work hard and be patient; Do not be quick to judge others; keep searching for good friends who will say what is best for you in front of you and behind you. Simply be different. Do not get lost in the crowd. You are unique. You are important. I love and respect you the way you are because You are my student. I would want to be the pillar of support during difficult times. I would want to motivate you to believe in yourself when you doubt of getting an A star or a 45. Your future is bright.     I respect your perseverance to study and keep yourself motivated. I am astounded by the amount of work you put in and the assignments you submit. You have continuously shown us that you can adapt to the situation given. Children, despite the challenges that you face, the isolation and the distance, you have shown me that we can move forward. Your enthusiasm and energy is what keeps me going! Continue to laugh and play in your house and neighbourhood! Happy Children’s Day! I miss seeing you all!

    We’ve spent 74 days together in this term, give or take a few. I’ve gotten more crow’s feet, you’ve gotten taller :-)
     
    On a serious note, I’m astounded by how much you all have taught me during this challenging time of pandemic .I’ve been amazed at the insights you bring to a topic—things that might have never crossed my mind. You’ve helped me grow in patience and empathy. Every time I tried to make things easier for you, you proved that you were capable of more than I would have guessed. You challenged me, and more importantly, you challenged yourselves. And the challenge was surprisingly fun!
     
     And, as always, you’ve given me so much hope for the future. I wish I could hang onto you all just a little longer and fix some of the mistakes I made.
     
     I’d like to think we’ve all had some personal growth during this pandemic. After almost a whole year of virtual classes together, I strongly feel you’ve grown a little wiser and a little more hopeful than you started it. I know I am, and for that, I’m grateful to you all.
