Hi, my name is Carlota Marinela Gutiérrez Mendoza but everyone calls me Marinela. I was named after my mom, my great grandmother and my father’s most beloved aunt. I was born on March 31st, 1997 in La Paz-Bolivia and I’ve lived here for almost twenty three years. I grew up next to my grandparents, Enry and Eulogio. We’ve lived the best experiences together and we’ve shared most of them with my cousins, Mateo and Micaela. Our parents had to work all day, so we spend our childhood traveling, playing in parks, eating Pollo Copacabana and trying every single activity that you can imagine. I’ve always considered myself artistic rather than sporty, so most of my activities used to be related with acting, dancing, singing, drawing, painting and playing instruments. When it comes to music, I really enjoy listening the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s hits and although I like watching movies and tv series, reading is one of my favorites activities. I like sharing every single activity with my mom, she’s my best friend and my human diary. During quarantine she tried to teach me how to cook, right now I’m capable of making chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes. I’m almost sure that university has been one of the greatest experience in my life. By this time next year I will have finished my major in economics, I’m absolutely excited and full of joy for this achievement.

I was born in La Paz, Bolivia and I’ve stayed here for almost 23 years. Living at the wonder city has been an amazing experience, I’ve visit incredible places and met people who changed my life.
The multiple landscapes that this city offers create a magic atmosphere and the fact that you are able to undergo every weather season on just one day gives this place a unique air.
I’m a sucker for summer, sunsets and long road trips with the windows down and old music playing on the radio. My favorite place to do this activity in is Coroico.

There’s a force within the universe that keep us moving forward. It can motivate us, but it’s our effort and perseverance what makes us achieve the goal and make the dream come true. I love this quote because it shows that even though somethings may not be possible in the short run, hard work will pay off in the future and that thing you wanted so hard will eventually become a reality.
