• Promotional videos are usually marketing and sales tools that are created to make people aware of something.
• Promotional videos are very structured in terms of how they are created:
• Pre- production, including scriptwriting and storyboarding.
• Production, including location filming with camera crew and director. This stage can also include presenters and actors/actresses.
• Post-Production editing- the footage is edited together. This may also include recording an audio voice-over and adding graphics.
Things to take into consideration when thinking about promo videos.
•use of graphics to go with the information.
• Animated graphics to create or reinforce the brands identity.
• The use of a presenter to import information.
• interviews with key people.
• The way that the narrative goes from a 'story' in which communicates the videos message.

The documentary is about Fertility. In this documentary they interviewed a fertility advocate. This is because as we have seen from the generic conventions of documentaries they normally interview the experts in a certain area, this is because they obviously have more knowledge on the subject as they probably studied it and would know more about it than if they just asked anyone randomly.

They have decided to interview her at the company that her and co-founder set up. This was obvioulsy done in order to set the scene and it also makes sense to interview her in a company where they focus on fertility than anywhere else, as the documentary is about fertility.

They have used a cutaway from them sitting around a desk, doing product development to then an image of the interviewee (the previous woman) holding and talking about their finished product. This could have been done in order to promote the product.

In this documentary they use voice overs. This is so that they could add more images and so that the audience wouldn't get bored just looking at the woman talking, they know that the audience would be watching the images but still be listening to her talking.

The woman that was interviewed in this documentary is the co-founder of adopt-a-dog-pop-up, again this was done to show expertise in this specific area. The use of a woman taking about a specific topic is what is normally done in documentaries and in adverts/ promo videos. This is because a female voice has positive connotations, we assosiate a female voice with being trustworthy, soft and believable. However although this may be true to an extent it can be argued that a female voice-over cannot be more persuasive than a male voice when it comes to selling a specific thing. Compared to women, male voice-overs are more associated with being neutral, authoritative and factual.

The interviewee was interviewed at the pop-up that was taking place. This was done to promote the pop-up and to get people to see how it is like and hopefully attend.

They have included cutaways of just the dogs to the dogs being picked up and petted by various people.

There are big yellow subtitles in this documentary this is so that the audience can fully understand what is being said. One generic convention of documentaries which is not being shown in this documentary and the previous documentary is the name of the interviewee is not being shown, obviously only in the subtitles but normally there is a box that says their name and what it is they do.

The woman that was interviewed in this documentary is the woman who this documentary is about. This is a different documentary because normally a documentary is about a specific thing and then there is an expert in that area that talks about that subject, however this documentary was made as a result to what happened to this woman, and this woman became an expert in this area as a result to what happened to her.

At the end of the documentary there is graphics. There is a yellow background and then in big bold black writing there is the name "60 second docs" which is obviously their channel name and logo (how people recognise them). This is put at the end so the audience knows that this documentary was produced by them.

They have included cutaways such as the woman drawing sketches of the suspects to then after showing the victim. This is to show that this is a real life story documentary.

They decided to to interview her in her home where she draws her sketches, this is to further emphasise the realism of the subject.

This documentary also has facts, which is a convention of documentaries because the whole point of documentaries is to inform people on a particular subject. For example she said that she "has helped identify more than 1000 worst criminals".

In total there are four language courses that can be taken at SFX as A-levels. There is French, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian. So therefore there would be lots to talk about.
I have chosen to maybe do the language department because in every language they do similar topics such as:
Social issues in that particular country for example in France and other French speaking countries.

Changes in modern families ( what percentage of couples get married in today's society), education and the world of work.

The political and artistic culture.

These topics are seen through out all four languages that are given as a course in SFX, especially in first year. This would make it easier to link everything and the questions I would ask the teachers would be similar as they are all teaching the same thing but in different languages.

In the second year the students participate in two productions (which would be a good/fun thing to talk about in the documentary) the productions include a full-scale musical. They experience live theatre, music and dance performances in professional Venues.
I just find that in general the performing arts department has lots to be spoken about and it would be fun for more people to get involved in the performing arts department.
