A graduate of Williams College in Massachusetts, Jim Mabie began his career in the retail business with Marshall Field & Company and held responsibilities as a purchaser of women's apparel. Shifting his focus to investment services in 1970, he attained a position as vice president with A.G. Becker & Company, where he worked over the next 13 years. From 1983 to 2018, he served as partner with William Blair and held a number of leadership roles, including Private Client Services director. He achieved selection as one of Chicago Magazine’s Top Wealth Managers and earned Barron's ranking as among the country’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors. Mr. Mabie has an extensive volunteer track record and is past chair of WBEZ Public Radio and present chair of WTTW Public Television. Another accomplishment has been guiding the public contract school Chi-Arts as founding chairman and he continues to hold a role as director.
