Director: Greta Gerwig
Movies: Lady Bird, Little Women, and Barbie

Most of the time, we focus on work done by men, but this year it has been women's names that have stood out. In many parts of the world, people went crazy over the release of Barbie, and I want us to talk more about the incredible director of that movie. She has two more films that also explore womanhood, so I believe Greta would be the perfect choice for us.

Director: Guillermo del Toro
Movies: Pinocchio, Pan’s Labyrinth, The shape of water

One thing we must highlight is that all his films are visually stunning, with meticulous attention to detail in set design, creature design, and cinematography. Also, del Toro's monster designs are legendary, and they often symbolize deeper themes. He argues that the idea of normality is oppressive, while monstrosity liberates. It’s there, with the monsters, where Guillermo says he feels comfortable and finds refuge, since they can "be oneself, without appearances and with total honesty". It could be an interesting director to explore in depth thanks to this spooky October theme mostly related to monsters.
