Problem: The drugs epidemic is not confined to a small number of states nor to lower-income areas, but instead has spread across the whole country. While there are concentrations around the midwest, and regional differences in the type of substance, overdose deaths are happening everywhere.

Solution: "Readily available and dangerous street drugs such as heroin and fentanyl. Overdose deaths from prescription opioids decreased slightly in 2012, but deaths from heroin and synthetic opioids have soared." One possible solution is for doctors to reduce prescribing opioids so readily. 

Problem: Thousands of people are abusing and overdosing on opioids, while It has cost the state almost $10 billion while the cost is continuing to increase.

Solution: "One way employers are dealing with crisis is by updating their benefits and policies to limit coverage of opioids, expand coverage of alternative pain treatment and increase payment for substance abuse and addiction programs"
