This committee was created by President Truman to investigate how Civil Rights was doing in the United States after WW2. This was a group that's sole purpose was to address discrimination and promote equality. It fought for a government response to the civil rights issues and also pushed for regional offices to make sure these matters are handled. The recommendations from the committee were super important to the upbringing of civil rights throughout the nation. This was seen as neither Disobedience or Self-Defense, instead it was an effort to assess the issues and promote equality.

In the case of Brown v. Board of Education the United States Supreme Court said that segregation within schools was not allowed anymore. This ultimately led to the end in segregation within schools among the whole entire nations. This was a very important moment in Civil Rights and challenged "separate but equal". This wasn't seen as civil disobedience or self-defense, but was seen as setting the stage for important civil rights activism.

This was a boycott that happened after Rosa Parks was arrested for the refusal to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. The Montgomery Bus Boycott had an important impact on the Civil Right Movement. This event was seen as a civil disobedience. While individuals refused to follow rules, like Rosa Parks, it was a group effort to go against laws but peacefully by just resisting to go on the buses. The main focus of the boycott was to bring attention to discrimination and segregation.

Those groups tried to prevent the entry of the African American kids. It's important because its attempt to integrate the school just proved the racial tensions. The event also advanced the Civil Rights Movement by gaining the attention nationally over the issue of racial equality, especially in schools. This was seen as an act of Civil-disobedience but also involved parts of needing self-defense.

The ICRA was put into action in 1968 as a way to protect the civil rights of Native Americans against any abuse from tribal governments. This made sure that the tribal governments could not enforce or put laws into place that violate individual rights. The ICRA is important because it grew the protection of the U.S. Constitution to the Native Americans in tribal lands. This is seen as both Civil Disobedience and Self defense because the law was to protect the Natives from harm but also they refused to obey laws as a way to protest the government.

NOW was created to support women's rights, more specifically for equality in jobs and society. It was significant because it played an important role in the feminist movement by having protests, increasing awareness in gender inequality, and pushed for laws. While some actions consisted of protests the main point was educating society rather than direct civil disobedience.

This law gave money for programs that helped victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and any other forms of violence. It was significant because it was just the beginning to laws that recognized violence to women and offered support resources. this was seen as more of a legislative act rather than civil disobedience, but can be seen as a way of self-defense because it was focused on safeguarding women.
