China is building a city covered in plants the world’s first forest city designed by Italian architect, Stefano Bradley. The forest city is located in a mountainous region north of the city of Ludo in southern China. The city will host 30, 000 peoples and include offices, houses, hotels, hospitals and school. The buildings will draw on geothermal energy to provide cooling and heating systems for interior air conditioning. In addition, solar panels will be installed over the rooftops to harvest solar energy. A total of 40, 000 tress and almost 1 million plans representing over a hundred species will be planted on building facades in parks and on city streets. Moreover, the trees and plants will absorb an estimated 10, 000 tons of carbon dioxide and 57 tons of fine dust pollution each year. Meanwhile, greenery will produce 900 tons of oxygen annually. This project implemented due to Beijing issued red alert because of severe smog, the reading was above 300 micrograms carbon dioxide. Its spell from November to December 2015, the air pollution was so thick it blocked views.

Small parks in urban cities can decrease up to 7 degree Celsius in the environment while trees planted along streets are known to reduce up to 3 degree Celsius. Green roofs decrease 4.4 degrees Celsius and if integrated along urban cities could reduce temperature further for about 7 degree Celsius. Trees can also reduce exhaust gasses and chemical content in the air. For example, trees reduce nitrogen oxide content in air for about 75% if planted in cities.  Deciduous trees planted on buildings offer passive solar shading in the summer while allowing sun's rays deep into the building during winter. Aside from physical benefits offered by plants, trees and shrubs are known to provide psychological advantages too. Hospital patients with green views within the hospital recovers faster than the average while plants reduce stress and increase productivity among staffs. Henceforth, many cities are currently incorporating green roofs into sustainable buildings to reduce the psychological impact of living in dense urban cities. The trees are first around 3 to 6 metres tall when they are first planted. The trees are allowed to grow maximum height till 9 metres before being pruned.  The trees are tethered to the building using steel wires to ensure their stability in the building. Buildings that incorporate trees need special consideration in structure such as additional strengthening and reinforcements in areas. The embodied carbon of the steel used in reinforcement or building superstructures need to be increased as well as maintained consistently. To tackle the issue of fire on tree scrapers, established guidelines are followed to prevent fires along with regular pruning of plants while ensuring the soil contains relatively low percentage of organic matter. 

Bosco Verticale or Vertical Forest in Milan by Stefano Boeri Architects are residential towers standing at 112 metres and 76 metres tall which became the first successful example of tall buildings fully covered in trees. Milan uses its access to underground water for its trees in the vertical building. Stefano Boeri is currently expanding his work to other countries such as Switzerland, China and the Netherlands. This idea has also inspired Vietnamese studio Vo Trong Nghia to incorporate trees into buildings especially in planting such trees in the balconies of the private universities in Hanoi. Belgian architect, Vincent Callebaut's Agora Tower in Taipei based on a form the double helix DNA features extensively planted balconies. On the other hand, British designer, Thomas Heatherwick's 1000 Trees is a building featuring trees and shrubs on its structural columns in Shanghai. Heatherwick's Maggie's Centre in Leeds uses roofs to create a stepped garden complete with lush shrubs and vegetation in the United Kingdom. In Singapore, WOHA continue to design green architecture, including the Oasia Hotel Downtown, a 27-storey tower with trellis like facade along its building. It was named the Best Tall Building Worldwide in 2018 by Council on Tall Building and Urban Habitats. 

The latest engineers established carbon-negative materials such as Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) or glue laminated timber (glulam) to manufacture better structural materials when building tree scrapers. The future of tree scrapers are seen as ongoing projects with high rise structures such as 18-storey Tree Tower Toronto by Penda and the 350metre tall Sumitomo Forestry's headquarters in Tokyo by Nikken Sekkei, showing the continuous growing trend of today's engineer pushing the limit of integrating nature and building.

It starts with a smartphone app developed by the building’s main tenant, the consulting firm Deloitte. When workers arrived at the Edge, a camera recognizes them by their license plate for automatic access and because it’s the Netherlands, there are charges available for electric cars. 

Inside the building, the workers don’t have a personal desk. Workspaces are assigned based on their schedule of the day. This concept is called Hot Desking and it’s what allows Deloitte to have 2500 workers but less than half as many desks at its Dutch’s HQ. The app knows the preferences of the light. When they arrive at the workspace the lights dim or brighten based on their stored settings. 

So what makes this all possible is the LED light panels developed by Phillips specifically for the Edge are actually powered by low voltage Ethernet cables which every light in the building becomes its own internet connected data hub with 28000 sensors that makes the building and its users smarter.

Of all China’s rivers, the one that gives rise to the greatest concern is their Mother River, known as the ‘Yangtze River’. President Xi has visited the river numerous times. He has called for a major effort to protect it and for a ban on large-scale construction along its course. Insisting on ecology first and green development, the development path of the Yangtze Economic Belt is becoming clear. Today, the Yangtze River is generally in good condition. The water quality of the Yellow River, and two other key waterways, Heilongjiang River and Nenjiang River, has been improving. 

Furthermore, the Three-North Shelter Forest Program has been a great success in global ecosystem governance. Returning the Grain Plots to Forestry Project has created more than 30 million hectares of forests and grasslands in the past 20 years. China adheres to green development, and by doing so, is helping the entire world. In spring 2019, the results of a NASA environmental study were published. From 2000 to 2017, China had been responsible for about a quarter of the new green area created worldwide. This made it the world’s biggest contributor. Mohamed El Fatatry who are founder of ERTH. ERTH is an on demand electronic waste recycling service, which handle the e-waste in an environmentally friendly way. He said that it is really harmful to throw the electronics in the regular trash, where all mixed together in the landfill. He introduce to the freelance heroes to join them as pickup hero where the ERTH receive the pick-up requests from the customers. The pickup hero will collect the e-waste and the customer also get the cash reward. This way actually can encourage more people interested  in recycling their e-waste through ERTH. And the all of item will go to their recovery partner for dismantling and segregation. ERTH has collected more than 15 tons of e-waste but it still have a challenges for them. First challenges they are facing how to increase people awereness of e-waste. Then, he try to spreading and advocating environment education. He tell them what happen with the e-waste at the end when it recycled. This way can educate the students how important e-waste to our life.

South Korea is ranked second highest level of fine dust out of 36 countries and is the worst dust level amid increase in air pollution in the country. The government agency has set up measures to reduce fine dust emissions by 20 percent from previous year. For instance, the government bans on old diesel cars and reducing operation of coal power plants in Seoul. Next, government encourage the community to shift to electric vehicles to reduce carbon emission from vehicles. The government reduce approval of projects that will create emission and pollution in the country. Furthermore,  the government will use policy tools such as taxation and subsidies for green transitions. Tax incentives will be provided for firms invest in green technology in the country and increase capacity of renewable energy in South Korea.

Toyama City also has set the goal of becoming an environmentally friendly city. This ground collection system gets rid of smells and keeps the trash out of sight.
The system measures the volume of waste contained in the container and reports it via internet to the disposer.
This is a solution for a cleaner environment allowing the best possible integration of the disposal system in a community.
The population is producing ever more waste and people

Half of the city almost doesn't have any car and they replace it with underground stations and lots of public transports such as public boats. Most of the residents using the bicycles or walk to their destinations. They use intelligent energies like solar, geothermal and biomass as an alternative to replace the power system. The project that involved the renovation of that city is a kind of benchmark for sustainable architecture. However, it is quite expensive to be working on because it needs a lot of investments. But Merlin Koene, Director of Unilever said the cost is worth it because all the hard work will be paid off in long-term. 
Hamburg is aiming to be Co2 reduction port because they already one foot ahead. They use energy from renewable sources.
