         <description><![CDATA[<div>In July of 1990 Iraq demanded $10 billion in compensation for over producing oil cross borders and breaking OPEC trading regulations. Kuwait responded by offering just $500 million. The war officially started when Iraq decided to fully invade Kuwait for their oil in hopes to pay back their war debts.</div>]]></description>

This caused health effects including very bad air quality causing respiratory issues for soldiers. Iraq set Oil on fire to have a military advantage the intense smoke would inhibit coalition offensive air strikes and could screen Iraq’s military movements.</div>]]></description>
