TESL/TEFL/TESOL/ESL/EFL/ESOL

http://iteslj.org/links/

The purpose of this website is to provide links to ESL students and teachers of English as a Second Language students with two defined columns, one for students and the other for teachers. This is meant for two audiences, teachers of ESL students and ESL students. These links are meant for all ELLs as evidenced by having links to activities in 20 different languages and have materials for ELLs living in Canada, U.S., and England. The website is part of Internet TESL Journal which published articles from 1995 through 2010. This website is now an online resource book for teachers who can refer to the published articles on teaching techniques and other things of interest to EFL and ESL teachers and is credible. There is no bias found in the website. The boxes at the top of the title bar also help the ELL know where they are on the website by the color box that appears with the title of the page they’re on. The text is separated and clear and all non essential images have been left off to help the browser speed for those who may not have the fastest internet connection or most modern browser. There are 10,192 registered links that are on their website. All of these links are organized under specific tabs and those links lead you to another website with that resource. Besides the plethora of grammar links there are cultural links to help the ELL navigate the unspoken cultural norms as well as body language and idioms.

A short list of good links

http://iteslj.org/ESL.html

The purpose of this site is to provide useful links that will help a teacher or student of ELL advance themselves. The main site (TESL/TEFL/TESOL/ESL/EFL/ESOL) is meant to help students and teachers with this page being specifically for ELLs. The site is designed for teachers and ESL students so the only bias is to encourage the improvement of teaching ELLs and the advancement of students’ ability to work at home. This is a credible site because it has some useful teacher designed and researcher based activities. It also encompasses many cultures and tries to help acclimate them into their current situation. This site will help the ELL move forward in achieving their goals. There is an online dictionary, a tab for “where to ask questions, a multitude of grammar and vocabulary resources, a link for words that are spoken at a slow pace, and a presentation that teachers the sounds of American English not only hearing the sounds but how to pronounce them as far as your mouth and actually making the sound. There are many more but these are some of the ones that illustrate this website has value and connects with the ELL.

Unlike TESL, EL Civics for EL students uses colorful pictures to make a connection to the reading.
