The Printing Press is invented,1436

German goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg is credited with inventing the printing press around 1436, although he was far from the first to automate the book-printing process.A printing press is a mechanical device for applying pressure to an inked surface resting upon a print medium, thereby transferring the ink. The first printing press allowed for an assembly line-style production process that was much more efficient than pressing paper to ink by hand. For the first time in history, books could be mass-produced — and at a fraction of the cost of conventional printing methods. The innovation that Johannes Gutenberg is said to have created was small metal pieces with raised backwards letters, arranged in a frame, coated with ink, and pressed to a piece of paper, which allowed books to be printed more quickly.

The social network TheFacebook.com launched in February 2004. Harvard students who signed up for the service could post photographs of themselves and personal information about their lives, such as their class schedules and clubs they belonged to. The origins of Facebook have been in dispute since the very week a 19-year-old Mark Zuckerberg launched the site as a Harvard sophomore on February 4, 2004. Then called "thefacebook.com," the site was an instant hit. Facebook, initially titled as thefacebook.com and limited to Harvard students, launched on Feb. 4, 2004. In 2006, Facebook became open to general public. Mark Zuckerberg along with fellow Harvard mates, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes founded Facebook. Facebook-parent Meta launched the Meta Quest Pro mixed reality headset in a move to further strengthen the idea of metaverse - the brainchild of company CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The metaverse allows people to talk to others through avatars, which are graphical representations of users or their characters or personas. For a long time, it seemed the site could do no wrong, going from strength to strength. Now, for the first time in Facebook's history, its daily active users have declined. In Q3 2021, the site had 1.93 billion daily active users. In Q4 2021, the figure fell to 1.929 billion.

March 18: That was the day the Guardian and the New York Times reported that 50 million Facebook (FB) profiles were harvested by data firm Cambridge Analytica for "psychographic profiles" in what was a major breach of user trust. The $5 billion settlement Facebook/Meta subsequently agreed with the FTC, in 2019 — after the regulator examined whether it had violated an earlier privacy agreement — was criticized by dissenting commissioners as allowing the social media giant to pay for blanket immunity for its senior management team. Cambridge Analytica, the embattled data firm that worked on Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, announced it is shutting down operations. “The Company is immediately ceasing all operations,” it said in a statement Wednesday, announcing bankruptcy proceedings would soon begin.

The Battle of Thermopylae (/θərˈmɒpɪliː/ thər-MOP-i-lee; Greek: Μάχη τῶν Θερμοπυλῶν, Máchē tōn Thermopylōn) was fought in 480 BC between the Achaemenid Persian Empire under Xerxes I and an alliance of Greek city-states led by Sparta under Leonidas I. Lasting over the course of three days. After Thermopylae, the Greeks went on to achieve great victories at Salamis and Plataea where they decisively defeated the Persians. Leonidas and his men had reinforced the prestige of Sparta and raised the morale of all Greeks to continue fighting against Persia. While the Battle of Thermopylae was technically a defeat for the Greek coalition, it was also a conquest. It marked the beginning of several important Greek victories against the Persians and represented a morale shift among the Greeks
