Kindergarten Readiness-we would use these assessments three times a year to track how the students going into Kindergarten were doing so that we could make sure they were prepared for their screening in the spring. This is an example of something like I used in my classroom.

Examples:
1. Parent Teacher conferences. I used this time to show my data that I had collected from the students to show parents their progress. I had conference sheets I had to fill out, as well as the data program we used at Head Start for developmental data collection to show parents if students were on target or not based on our information. This website is the site we used to document our observations for data on the students. We based our data on the Early Learning Standards and it was based on a scale of 1-8 if I remember correctly.

Kindergarten Readiness was completed three times a year for those students going into Kindergarten. Beginning, middle, and end of school year-and progress for each was kept throughout the year to show the parents. They also got a copy at the end of the year to keep.

Teaching Strategies was updated bi-weekly with classroom observation notes, and was due every quarter (three times per year). This was used to help with conferences, and to
help the management team see if there was any extra assistance needed with students that could have been having issues.

ESI was only used at the beginning of the year, unless students came in throughout the year, and then this data had to be completed in thirty days of their being in the classroom.

DECA was only used once a year as well- except if students came in throughout the year, then the same protocol for ESI was used for DECA as well.

Head Start did a screening day before classes started, and one tool used was the ESI. This test data collection tool was used to see if students could do developmentally what was expected of them at the age they were at. Some of the examples on the ESI were: stacking blocks a specific way, being able to fill in the statements(such as: a brother is a boy, a sister is a...), and gross motor and fine motor activities.

This tool was used at the beginning of the school year. Parents were to fill this developmental/behavior tool about their children, and then teachers had to fill it out after they had been in the classroom with the students for a few weeks. This helped management see if there was any extra help that students may need for behavior needs.
