These are some(eight actually) clues if our chick is sick or is dying.

1.They can appear very dull, drowsy, lifeless and may sleep more than usual.

2.They may be unsteady on their legs and balance themselves with their wings and their heads may flop about.

3.Another reason is that they will always be quiet. They will not not peep to each other like you would find them doing under normal conditions.

4.The eyes tend to be half shut as if the light is hurting their eyes. The eyes may also appear to be swelling.

5.They will always be sneezing, panting or gasping in an unpleasant way.

6.They will always be falling down when they are sick and they may show a lot of weakness on their sides and their legs.

7.They will be pale and may have cold extremities (extremities means that they are on their limits).

8. Finally, how you see if a chicks is sick is that they will be thin and feel like skeletons covered in a lot of furry fluff balls.

Below is a sick chick:

They need 30 minutes to about 60 minutes to run in the morning and the evening. If we have healthy chicks they can run almost forever. But they have to stop. After, they will eat a lot because they don't have enough energy.

Baby chickens are chicks. Female chickens are mom’s until they’re old enough to lay eggs and become hens. Male chickens are called roosters, cocks or cockerels, depending on the country you’re in. Like in America Male chickens are called roosters.

Roosters perform a little dance called ‘tidbitting’ in which they make sounds (food calls) and move their head up and down, picking up and dropping a bit of food. Researchers have found that females prefer males that often perform tidbitting and have larger, brighter combs on top of their heads.

A light weight chicken releases about 120 pounds of droppings per year, a heavy breed averages 180 pounds; and chickens poop even when they’re asleep.

This occurs most often when the male is lower in the pecking order.

Scientists think that the rooster’s wattle–the dangly bit beneath his beak–helps him to gain a hen’s attention when he is tidbitting.

7.They need a very, very clean and safe home. They don't like just getting bug bites all over them and they don't want to be so dirty. We need to give them a healthy, clean and safe brooder. We have to keep big toys for the chicks because they might swallow the small toys. That might not be safe for the chicks.

8.Chicks love treats. Some of the good treats has good taste. We need to give the chicks healthy treats. Some healthy treats we can give them is watermelon, pumpkin or other healthy treats. One of their most favorite treat is worms. We can feed the chicks worm. They will love us if we give them lots of worms. They will just sing,Worms!Worms!Worms!

9.Chicks love toys. They always play with toys.but in the number 7 one on the top.It said we can not give it really small toys because they can swallow it.It would choke them and then they will die.As a toy we can give the chicks a old ball( big old ball),A chick swing( you guys would be like a chick swing! But I am really talking about a chick swing. But trust me they will absolutely enjoy it) and a hanging treat like a cabbage or lettuce, a pumpkin piece or any yummy treats.

Below are 9 things that will( actually that might be a maybe) make a chick happy. We can use these Ideas to make our chicks happy.Yay!!!

1.Chicks love to run around, so we need to give them a lot of space for them to run around. They run around a lot because they can stay very healthy.I think a good brooder (A cage for chicks) for chicks should be about 8 square feet for the area.

2.How chicks can be happy is that they need to live in a very clean cage, not a very dirty cage with rotten food and lots of poo on the floor, the water is not clean at all. That is bad for the chicks. They will be very sad instead of happy. The chicks also might get sick and pass it over to us.The chicks poop a lot.

3.Chicks definitely eat. They need to eat to live.We need to give them a lot of food.We need to feed them a lot of food with a lot of nutrients. They can eat food with not a lot of nutrients, but not a lot. They also need to eat at breakfast time, lunch time and dinner time(Maybe they need some desert) or maybe they might have a little snack time. They eat just like us!
