I like Venn diagrams seeing as they are already implemented heavily in reading it would be helpful for students to see them shown in math as well. The problem would need to be slightly less difficult but it would be something that would be interesting to add to math.

I actually really like the Venn diagram problem because it teaches the student to be more aware of the data collected and how each change affects the group as a whole. I also liked the question where students where students where able to see trends and ideas students where having and questions they may have about the data.

I liked the "What is going on with this graph" from the New York Times. This can help with showing different representations of graphs and the class can come up with what is happening in the graph. I feel like the students will get excited to see the other responses once it posted later. Also, it is important to make give reminders of certain graphs and their expectations and limitations (example: 100% for circle graphs)

I like Venn diagram because it it something that is heavily used in reading so it would be a helpful connection for students to make in math. I would just be careful with the difficulty of the numbers and problems students need to solve to get their answers. Overall I think I will be incorporating this into my math lessons.

I think that it is a higher-level problem since it requires students to use a wide range of methods. I thought that the New York Times What's going on in this graph? feature.

Connecting it to a real world problem/story. It makes the problems more engaging for the students and makes the activity more hands on. I like it when the story is connected to something within their own community that they are either familiar with or go visit. I like your example of the students going out to figure out how to add more spaces to the parking-lot, but another example I have seen is students redesigning their local playground and making models with measurements to show how they would improve it.

The circle of the process was similar to the scientific methods model which we have all seen before.

It is important to incorporate social justice practices into your classroom. You want to stress to students that each one of them is different, we all learn at our own pace, we are all good at different things, and we all come from different backgrounds. What is important is that in this class, we are all friends, partners, and collaborators. We are all there for each other and will help each other to succeed together.

Social justice is just as important in math as it is in any other subject area. We can practice social justice within our classrooms by making sure that all of our students have access to the same material, we keep in mind their strengths and areas of improvement (their starting points). If the curriculum does not support social justice teaching, we modify it so that it cater to our students' needs. Social justice can also be practiced cooperative learning where all students are contributing.
