Boo Radley's father was foot washing baptist, which was one of the extreme sects of Protestanism, and Ms. Maudie assumed that he was the victim of it. Foot washing is an act of worship practiced by various Christian groups in North Carolina and other southern states. The practice involves bathing the feet of a fellow church member.
