Par après, il devient commandant du NCSM Sagueney deux ans après. Pendant une crise économique en 1930, il dirigera les forces navires Canadiennes. Les forces navales seront développé au courent de la deuxième guerre mondial. Avec celui ci, il sert pendant la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale sur mer. En 1942, il revient au canada en tant que Major et devient instructeur au Royal Militairy College de Kingston. Ensuite, il retourne en Europe pour participer à la campagne de l'Europe du Nord-Ouest comme commandant en second .
