SCENARIO - SHOULD I DO MY HOMEWORK OR GO OUT WITH FRIENDS??

It’s a Friday night and Shelly’s friends text her saying, “There’s a party we’re going to. Attendance is mandatory; it starts at 10.” Shelly already has plans on Saturday and Sunday, so tonight is the only night she can study for her big physics and anatomy test on monday. Shelly wants to go because she couldn’t go to the last party. But, if she fails these tests her GPA will plummet. It’s already 8 pm, she has started studying, and her parents are out of town. She is faced with an important decision- to go or not to go. It’s exam season so Shelly needs to get her grades up before the final grades are put in. She also promised her other friend Charlotte that she would study with her tonight. Will Shelly make the right choice to stay home and study with her classmate or to cancel her study plans to go out and party, potentially risking her grades?

It is third period and you are waiting in the classroom for your late teacher. As Shoger arrives, you see money fall out of his pocket before he enters the class. A few minutes pass as you stare at the money. You ask to go to the bathroom and see the twenty dollar bill sitting there. No one is around, so you bend down to pick up the money. As you put it in your pocket, you are faced with the decision to keep it or to give it back. You return to theology class as Shoger is teaching about moral decision making. Will you turn the money back to its rightful owner or become $20 richer?

Audrey Walsh, Bridget Cailteux, Lauren Bouckaert Picture this: Ellen Degenerate is a high school student who is prone to reckless behavior. Like every other highschooler, she sometimes makes morally wrong decisions because of lack of prudence and discipline. She is driving through the Cor Jesu parking lot one morning when teacher and best-selling author of “Duke for Dummies” Cott Hoger walks in front of her car without looking. She can’t slam the brakes in time and hits Hoger with her car. Hoger is now unconscious and lying in the middle of the parking lot. Because she didn’t hit him on purpose, she doesn’t have bad intentions. But she now must make a moral decision to either commit a hit and run by leaving him there, or make the correct decision and call 911. Hopefully, she will make the objectively moral choice to help Hoger.

Alias and his friend were in high school and attended a graduation party. Both were underage drinking that night. Only Josiah blacked out and had a curfew of 12am that his parents were very strict about. Alias did not want his friend to get in trouble. He decided to drive Josiah home, still intoxicated. He intended to get his friend home safe and on time. Alias got into an accident that night and his friend died. Painfully. Alias was unharmed.
