if the artists believes in a philosophy then that will impact the style, subject matter and meaning of the art. such as neoplatonism the art will express ideas of Christianity and ideas from the writings of Plato

Why are artworks affected by theories? I think a theory can influence art greatly because a theory an artist has can be explored through what they make. A theory being an idea or philosophy means it can completely dictate what an artwork is supposed to be about, as well as dictate the steps the artist chooses to make in the creation of their work.
