Salva is 11 years old in Sudan and he is in school during chapter 3 and has witnessed a school shooting as Men, Children, Women carrying babies were all running and panicing all over the place and trying to not get shot but the bullets of the guns the school shooters had. Also to make it worse they were also about to dismiss. I can make a connection to the Oklahoma land rush because all of the people were trying to get land and running all over the place. The teacher also told the kids to get down as some of the children were frozen and quiet.

What I learned about Slava is that he is a boy, and he doesn't pay attention in class because he already know the lessons and he just daydreams in class. And his two sisters did not go to school they stayed home to keep a house which is cleaning and cooking. Slava had responsibilities like taking care of their farm animals and he would go hunting and that he witness a shooting and he got really scared and he wanted to go him but he couldn't because they were already at his home so he just ran into the forest.
