I think that the theme of the poem is to always live with hope. Living deliberately means to make your own path in life and not have others tell you how to live. These two things connect because in order for you to start your own life path, you have to have hope that it will always work out. An example of a person in my life who does this is my oldest sister. She didn't let anyone get in the way of living how she wanted to. She push forward and at the end of the day always had hope that things would turn out alright.

To live deliberately is to live with a purpose and allowing your actions, behavior, and choices affect your outcome rather than fate choosing your destiny. By acknowledging the surroundings and recognizing the necessary change, individuals are able to live deliberately. The word deliberate encompasses the idea of consciousness and intention. If one becomes aware and strives to live in the conscious states, they're living deliberately. By living every second with intent also resembles this idea. Dickinson's poem relates to living deliberately as she explains the idea of hope and selflessness through an extended metaphor of a bird with feathers in which lives in the soul of humans. This connotation of hope is given to inspire and motivate the individual and the drive to keep going in a “storm”. This resembles the idea of intent as even in the toughest of times, hope is available and can be integrated to fight off the struggles -- in addition, to see the sole purpose of making it through difficult times. I see this idea of living deliberately in my mom. I see my mom as someone who uses every moment to move forward and build off both her struggles and successes. Although she has a busy work life, she always takes the time to experience the nature of being alive. She lives with her own purpose of good and not what others want/expect of her. Through the years, I have definitely noticed her view on life has strengthened towards this idea of living deliberately.

To live deliberately means to live based off of what you want out of life, not what others want. It means that your goals are your own, they are not from others persuading you to do certain things. Emily Dickinson's poem relates to living deliberately because she talks about how having hope be a part of our lives is based off of how we approached it and how we incorporate it into our lives. Live with a purpose and live for yourself, do not let others try to live your life for you. I can apply this to my life by following my dreams and working hard to achieve my own goals, even if they aren't the same goals that others want me to achieve. I can continue to show my real self and how I want to be seen by others. Someone in my life that captures Dickinson's illustration of hope are my parents, they both always teach me to think on the postivie side of things and to be open-minded. The teach me not to just assume the worst in things, think of your glass being half full rather than half empty.

To live deliberately means to live with purpose and compassion. For me, I try to live this way by helping others with homework, helping my family, and volunteering. Choosing to respond to change positively contributes to living deliberately and having that purpose. For example, when a natural disaster happens, that is a big change for thousands of people. Choosing to provide supplies and shelter for those effected can be a way to show compassion and to live with a purpose. However, sometimes willing giving up physical things is just a way to live deliberately. Dickinson´s poem relates to living consciously and intentionally because she is saying that hope is never ending and is something you must find. She finds hope through the birds, but for me I find hope through one of my old friends. When we were friends in 5th grade, she went through a really hard time with her family. She continued to stay positive, but one day I completely lost touch with her. I finally found her again during homecoming freshmen year and she still was as positive and as sweet as I remember. Maybe her hope was being nice and friendly to others, but she gives me the definition of living deliberately.

I see living deliberately for example in the foster care system I work with! I see they have a passion for it and that’s what I want to do. I have started working with them and the children. Living deliberately means living with a purpose and pursuing that purpose. Everyone has a purpose so you should use that! Dickenson’s poem relates to this concept because she is telling us that hope is what we make or it. Hope is the thing with the feathers she states and she also says it flies. When you have hope it should fly because it can lift you up. Hope should be strong just like the feather are for a bird, that keeps then flying! Living deliberately in this case for instance birds are flying, and they are living with purpose and on missions. Hope can be a purpose and hope can be a start of the purpose. My youth pastors hope allows him to fly daily and be strong in that. His version of hope goes beyond reason, and when we don’t have a reason he has hope. He has hope that those who aren’t Christians will follow Christ. He pursues this daily by being a youth pastor and chasing after people! He uses his faith and hope to be strong in that!

I see many people living deliberately around me but one group of people that inspire me are people living with cancer. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and after being diagnosed he made it his mission to make every day worth it. He was always so upbeat and positive. I think this relates to Dickinson's poem with hope because throughout my grandfather's journey he never lost hope that he would get better. I think I can choose to live deliberately by making sure that I make a positive impact on people's lives by always making sure they are doing well.

Change is the only thing that is permanent and accepting it and adapting to it is the way to live deliberately. The hope that has feathers is what one holds on to to advance forward with their purpose. The bird is confronted with many storms, as a person will be with many challenges but living deliberately means persevering and continuing. I don't yet have a close person to look up to but some people like this would be environmentalists or just those who live in the moment and fiercely advocate for what they believe in.

To live deliberately means to live life with motivation and positivity. To have motivation and positivity, you need to have hope and dedication from yourself. Many people around me struggle with living deliberately due to their regrets and mistake. They hold on to that fear of failure which can really affect the way you can live deliberately. Your mistakes and regrets are there to help you improve yourself. If you look at it in a positive way, you can go a long way. This relates to Dickinson’s poem because while having a fear of failure, you can find hope. In the poem, it mainly talks about hope; if you secure your hope you will be able to live deliberately. I can choose to live deliberately by finding a positive outlook in my regrets and mistakes and gain motivation from that.

Dickinson's poem shows the theme of resilience and represents that by explaining the importance of never giving up or losing hope. Living deliberately to me means that you live your life to the fullest and find your purpose which in turn fuels your passion. The poem relates to my vision of a deliberate life because Dickinson talks about how hope lives on in everyone even when a bad event or time happens and that helps people to not give up when life gets hard. My mom would be a very good representation of living a deliberate life because she didn't have an easy childhood and sometimes it's hard for my mom to get past everything that she went through, but she has never given up on creating a better relationship with her family and has also been a very hard worker her whole life which inspires my sister and I to be better people. If there is one thing that my mom represents it would be resilience, she teaches me daily to never give up when things get rough in life and I look up to her for that.

Living deliberately is living with purpose. It means that you do not live for superficial and materialistic things, but you discover the real meaning of your life. In Emily Dickson's poem, the theme is living with hope. Examples I have seen of this is when people get cancer, but they don't become depressed about their situation. They decide to make everyday mean something whether they will get better or not. Having this outlook can greatly increase your quality of life because when your life is about to end, you will look back and if you spent time dwelling on stupid stuff, you will have regrets.

1) The poem mostly speaks of how hope allows people to continue living and move on despite seemingly insurmountable difficulties and terrible past events. I think it also mentions that it does not take much to hope, but hope gives very much to those who are hopeful.
2) Living deliberately mostly means to live with purpose, but it also means to actually be present in the moment. Planning for the future and working towards objectives and goals is the main focus of life, but enjoying the journey towards that endpoint and accomplishment is just as important. I see it in most of my family, as well as in people who are usually around 20 to 30 years of age. I can respond to change in a deliberate fashion by keeping an open mind and processing each and every new idea with as little bias as possible. I will still try to keep my personality and not completely change to match my environment, but I will accept new ideas that I agree with and benefit from.
3) The poem about hope and perseverance relates to a deliberate life because those who lose hope tend to lose happiness and no longer enjoy life like a deliberate liver would. They would just go about their day without feeling, in a sort of limbo, and they can never escape without hope. Hope leads people to live fulfilling and purposeful lives.
4) I guess my mother would be the best person to fit this description. Even if she is buried under piles of work, stress, and problems, she finds a way to keep at it and continue enjoying life. She might be tired and stressed out at times, but she gets over it, no matter how difficult it may be. She appreciates everything in her life and works incredibly hard to provide for our family. She has multiple purposes and roles and she is conscious of it, and she strives to fulfill all of them.

Living deliberately means to live one day at a time with a purpose even if it isn't the best day. It means to make a plan for what you want to have or do in the future. I see living deliberately in the world around us through social media and how people are changing it to where everyone has insecurities and we all don't have to look like the models do what you want to do and don't let anyone judge you for it. To respond to change is don't let the negativity take over you life and see the bright side to everything you are doing. I think this relates to Dickinson's poem with joy and hope that other people can start seeing how to see the positivity in everything even social media. Someone in my life that lives deliberately is my dad he never complains and always has a smile on his face. He works so hard on everything he puts his mind to and he tries to help everyone they can just because he wants to.

I think living deliberately is finding your purose in the world and doing what you need to in order to fufill that. The world around us has changed drastically in the last couple of weeks, and living deliberately for some people could be doing the social distancing protocol to help stop the spread of infection and save lives. I've seen it in many of my friends who won't go out because of their baby siblings or their at risk family members. I think Dickinson's poem relates as I believe the bird represents perserverance and hope. The bird pushes through it's struggles and tries to overcome them while also helping others. My Dad lives deliberately by moving to Mexico all alone to provide for our family, taking the job while we live here so my sister can finish her senior year. His strength and generosity through his situation is inspiring as he's not only had to overcome challenges such as language barriers, but how to live in isolation. And now that I have to do something similar, his story has played a role on the way I act about the quarintine. Our society also has to choose to live deliberately through this time by helping others who have a lack of food, financial security, and by slowing the curve.

Living deliberately means that you follow a path but you designed it yourself and you state where you go and want to go and living with a purpose. You develop a strategy to get there. My Nana lives this lifestyle. She has a plan ahead of time and a path to follow it and she reflects that lifestyle to my other family members. Yes you can respond to change to live deliberately you just have to have plans and a path to follow and finding that purpose to live life everyday the way you want to.
The poem talks about this bird and it says it is like a song without words that never stops and that is like living deliberately. It connects to that lifestyle because people have a purpose and plan and do not want to ever stop.
In the poem she talks about a bird being free and and never wanting to stop and that reminds me of my grandmother because she is going through really tough times but lives life to fullest everyday and never gives up. My grandma asked people if things would get better and we all told her they would so she has more hope everyday that things in her life will take a turn and get better. She is the strongest person I know and she lives a deliberate and hopeful lifestyle.

The theme that is shown throughout Emily Dickinson's poem that can relate back to living deliberately is that is explains, in my opinion, that you have to look for the hope. It explains that there is always hope somewhere you just have to deliberately look for it. What it means to me to live deliberately is that you need to have a focused mindset. What I mean by this is you need to know what you are doing and what you are wanting to do. It's kind of like knowing who you are, but still giving yourself space to grow. I see this throughout the world today by seeing people go out of their way to help people in this trying time of COVID-19. This shows living deliberately because people understand the extra risk some people are at will go out of their way to help them. This relates to Dickinson's poem by showing how people are looking for certain things. A person in my life that really captures this idea of looking for hope would be my mom. I believe my mom captures this idea of looking for hope because not only holds the responsibility of my family but she is also taking care of my grandparents so they are not at risk of COVID-19 exposure but also her students that she is trying to help outside of school.

Living deliberately is existing with a strong purpose in one's life. This means going throught life accomplishing things for the good of others and yourself. I see this lifestyle in doctors and other healthcare proffesionals who devote thier lives for the good to anyone in need. I can respond to change by working for my goals throughout all the trails and challenging events that occur in my lifetime no matter what. Working hard and sticking to my goals is what living deliberately means to me. Dickinson's poem shows this by inspiring the reader with hope and that even in the darkest circumstances light can be found with hope and perseverance. A person who represents Dickison's message to me is my father. He has always worked so hard to make sure my family and I have what we need or want. One of his purposes in his life is caring for his family and doing anything he can for them.

The theme in the poem is to live with hope and purpose. What it means to live deliberate is living with a purpose and intention. We can see this in the world today by people living life to the fullest and people living with a purpose. I can respond to change by doing what i feel like is meaningful to me in life and by following the people that would help me through life. The poem relates to the question above by saying that there is hope regardless the situation that you are in. I see my mom as living deliberately cause regardless of the situation shes ready to tackle it. My mom always has hope at the end of the day and shes always fighting for what she believes is the right thing to do.

I think that the theme of the poem is to live with hope in your life and that you should always not take things for granted. I think that living deliberately means to find you purpose in life and strive for what you believe in and live a life with purpose. I can respond to a change by trusting people around me and knowing the true meaning of what I am doing. Dickinson's poem relates to this because in the poem it talks a lot about having hope and having that hope allows you to live deliberately with you life. Having this kind of outlook would generally have a more positive effect on your life and things could go more smooth. A good example of this would be my dad. He grew up very poor and lived not a really good lifestyle but he had hope and pushed through it and in the end he had worked to reach his goals. He is like a figure head that I sometimes look up to because he has lots of determination and hopes for everyone in the family.

I think that to live deliberately you must choose the path that will get you to your goal while allowing you to make the biggest positive impact on the society that you are able to. Emily Dickinson's poem is about how hope is always with you even in your darkest moments. This connects to living deliberately because you must have hope for yourself that you can overcome any obstacles that would keep you from your goal. In my life there are many people that I think live deliberately. One person in particular is my aunt. last Summer it was discovered that she was in late stages of colon cancer. This was a huge shock to everyone in my family, including her husband and 5 kids. It was really rough for her, but she always tried her best to not let it get in the way of what she does best: teaching choir. Though she was required to take some time away from school, my aunt went back to teaching as soon as she possibly could. She never lost hope that she could overcome this challenge. Currently she is on the road of recovery. It can't be said that she is completely cancer free yet, but at the moment things are looking good.

1) the themes were of hope, clearly, but also of what drives away hope. I'm guessing the obvious answer would be despair buy I think it has more to do with giving up on hope.

2) (I will attempt to answer the question as a whole and not piece by piece) To live deliberately is not to do something with meaning, but to take meaning in what you do. And if what you do lacks meaning, recognize that, and either find meaning in it, or find something in your meaning.

3) It reflects on hope. I think that hope is interesting b/c it is both our greatest strength and our greatest weakness. Hope can propel you against uncertain odds, towards something that can be forgotten in months or years, all b/c of a few inspirational words. That may seem cool to some, or sad, but whichever it is I encourage you to read what I just wrote from the other perspective. Life can seem meaningless and hope can either give meaning to it, or suck whatever meaning is left, right out.

4) My mother. She is a public school teacher, but where many are lethargic and lack luster, my mom is one of the hardest working people I know. She has found meaning in what many would call a meaningless career.
