It is hard to imagine that the Spanish state would ever let the bank fall while political parties continue to receive funding from them, or even worse when many politicians have their golden retirement guaranteed by the banks.

I think it's difficult to go back because nowadays both, the government and the banks, have become more selfish and they want to take profit of their users instead of helping them.

The fact of considering banks as some kind of organisms with a life of their own reminds me the situation when a customer in front of a desk clerk is told that "the system" doesn't allow something the customer is asking for. We are living "the System" dictatorship!

From my point of view, institutions can change if their workers change. Bank managers should be humble and capable of detecting malpractice of their employees as fast as possible.

In my opinion, economical sytem is closely related to political system. I always have heard that the IBEX 35, the main benchmark stock index of the Spanish stock market, with main spanish banks inside, have more power than the govermment. I wish banks were avalable to earn less money and help their little customers more.

I remember when there was an economic boom in which many people would ask for money to the bank to buy a flat and the banks would accept for a big comission. When things changed many people were not able to pay the flat and they had to leave and they are still paying taxes for a flat that they don't even have anymore. I think they knew those people couldn't pay that much of money but they didn't care.

To my mind, banking people would have to pay what they stole. Governments should not bail out banks. In the second decade of the 21^stcentury we saw how Spanish government restructured Spain’s bankrupts. It had a state cost higher than €40 billion. They didn’t refund all the money that the state invested in the bailout. And nowadays, in the news, we can see the great benefits that these banks are obtaining from their business. It is a shame!

With all sincerity, I am not a finance expert and I don't know how a bank works. However, If a bank lies to you, it will be punished. The more money you have, the worst.

From my point of view it is difficult to change this financial system that we have currently because as much of you have said there is a strong connection between government, banks and justice. However, people can change it just creating a new kind of banks or financial system. Hopefully, this starts to happen with digital money and desentralized cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.

As far as I know, big fortunes are not made out of good manners, good will and humble purposes. You can dress it up however you want, with philanthropist institutions or whatever. Money calls money and governments do not always meet public needs. I do not know much details about Iceland. I am afraid their action is exceptional.

In my opinion, after I listen some financial experts, the bank is running as a private business. So that, if these business is going to bunkrupt, is not only a privat matter, but also the Government it wouldn't be allow to rescue them as a public institution. This situation, happened some time ago in Spain. Is it an utopia to pretend not to repeat this situation again, and let the banks working as a privat business that they are?

Post covid-19 recession, banks are trying to reduce risks and costs by cut direct customers service and slash funding. There was a time when that unthinkable when all could allow aattachment and an attachment house and a luxury car!

From my point of view, banks have lost humanity and they do whatever it takes to keep growing and earning millions for those controlling the system. They follow their own rules, they don't care about people. Look at what has just happened in Spain: banks are firing thousands of workers while the top managers have tripled their own salary ... And the government has no power whatsoever to stop it. So, yes, I wish this Iceland news would spread over the world and empowered people and governments to stop banks from getting richer while people suffers.

In my opinion banks nowadays needs more transparency to earn the confidence of the clients. Also, they need a new politics of security and clients' rights to guarantee the safeness of the savings and avoid a bankrupting.
