They use the appeals of logos and pathos in the lyrics and the appeals of ethos and pathos in the video to get this message across. In analyzing the lyrics and video, it appears that their use of appeals is effective in convincing their intended audience.

When listening to this song for the first time you will get a general understanding of the song, but not knowing the song until really making a connection to the appeals in the lyrics. 

At the beginning of the song, Freddie sang  "God knows I want to break free", this uses logos because of the meaning of saying that God knows his feelings. Not only does he know but he also knows that if God knows then other people should be able to know too. In some religions, they don't approve of homosexuality. For example, Christianity also does not approve of homosexuality, but Freddie knows that God would accept anyone for who they are and who they love. In the next line, Freddie sang "But life still goes on", even though Freddie sings this line, he will still be stuck and lost. He's moving on from his life and not caring about what other people think.

while following along to the lyrics, there is this one line that Freddie sings that got my eyes and was "I've fallen in love for the first time", it's pathos because in reference to the movie it shows that he would end up loving his long-time friend. An example from the movie, Freddie also had an ex-boyfriend that brought him to a bad place for mental health. Other than that Freddie was always so open about his personality and even what he wears. When looking for what he'll do next in his life he also thought and sang "living without you by my side", meaning that he doesn't know what type of emotions to feel. When he sang "living without", seems to me that he is somewhere else other than being in the present and giving off a dark vibe to the song.
