         <description><![CDATA[<p>Gonorrhea during pregnancy can lead to serious health problems for the baby, including eye infections  which is known as gonococcal conjunctivitis, blood and joint infections, and brain inflammation which is called meningitis. If left untreated, these infections can cause blindness, brain damage, and in most extreme cases, death. </p>]]></description>

The CDC recommends a 500 mg dose of ceftriaxone for most adults, but a 1 gram dose for those weighing 300 lbs or more. Additional oral antibiotics, such as doxycycline, may be prescribed to also treat chlamydia, which often sometimes appears alongside gonorrhea.&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
