One way we can ensure birds are able to express natural behaviours is by teaching them flight training using gauntlets. This will then allow them time to fly, ultimately giving them the ability to express more natural flight patterns within different environments.

One way they can express natural behaviours is by hiding their food. This will allow them to scavenge and hunt for their food which will allow for them to spend time searching instead of being given straight to them. This can be classed as a type of enrichment because it is allowing mental stimulation of the bird of prey and encouraging them to have a thought process

Birds have different diets depending on the species for example Birds of prey need meat or fish. Birds are usually fed during shows or in training, the food is often thrown in the air or placed on a perch, this is enriching for them. Different food at different times is enriching however a routine is useful in training. An unsuitable diet may lead to disease

Prey bird typically are house with other members of their species to replicate their flock, decreasing stress and providing a feeling of safety in numbers. Whereas predatory birds are more likely to be house alone/ separately (koockuburouhs can be housed with or without other birds of their species).
