The Tooth Brush

I eagerly dug into the warm, delicious oatmeal. Each bite made me feel like I was in heaven. My taste buds felt a different taste each bite. That was when my mom asked me, " Have you brushed?" At that moment I felt a sudden lump in my throat. I recalled what I had done that day and I couldn't remember if I brushed. I coughed out, "Yes Mom." My brain yelled at me as I had lied. I quickly went into the bathroom where I found my mom. " You lied," my mom said in a disappointing voice. "Yesterday the cleaning lady came and put all of our brushes in the bathroom closet, the fact that your toothbrush is not outside just tells the truth. I hate people who lie don't show me you're face." I felt like hiding my self in the darkest closet we had in our house. The words that my mom had told me felt like they had rebounded in my head. I ran up to my mom and hugged her and said , " Sorry." Tears started trickling down my eyes and y mom said, " Don't do it again."

How does this relate to the theme?

I was being dishonest to my mom when I stated that I brushed that morning. If I had just said , "No" my mom would have said , "Go brush you are a becoming a big boy, you shouldn't forget things like this." That would have been the end of the discussion, but my dishonesty not only made my mom sad but brought tears to me. As you can see telling the truth would have been much better .

The Test

My hands clenched as the teacher was calling out student names to receive their test score. " Siddharth Bhupathiraju," the teacher called out. I got out of my blue chair and started walking toward the teachers desk. The class was so quiet I could hear my rapid heart beat. She handed out a test to me and whispered in my ear, " Good Job." I turned around and glanced at my paper and I good see in blue ink "100". My heart returned to it's normal pace and I could already image my parents giving me high fives. Everyone look at the board to see the questions they have gotten wrong, tomorrow we will go through each question in-dept. Just to reassure I received a 100, I looked at the answers on the board and the answers on my test. "A, C, B, A , D , B , A. Wait I got D for question 7. I looked back on the board and then at my test. I have placed the wrong answer," I thought. I walked to the teacher and told her , " I have chosen the wrong answer for question 7 but still received a 100." She took the test from my hand and stated, " Because of your honesty I will keep your 100 in the gradebook."

How does this relate to the theme?

If I hadn't told the teacher that day I would have felt guilt all the time. The guilt I have cheated on my exam. Due to my honesty that day not only did I get the guilt off my shoulders but also I got a reward from the teacher for being honest. As you can see being honest is always the best path to go.

The Black Belt

As a young kid I always used to love telling people I am a blackbelt even though I wasn't. Sometimes people wouldn't believe me at first glance, so I said confidently ,"You wanna try me." Seeing the confidence in my eyes most of them believed , but one day that wasn't the case. Our fifth grade elementary school year was nearing it's end , and the nice spring days were beginning. One afternoon during recess I lied to my close friend that I was a blackbelt. Like most people he didn't believe me at first ,so I did the normal routine. " Try me if you don't believe me." That was when I recalled a couple of years ago he brought his black belt to school for Show and Tell. He accepted the challenge and oh boy did I get some bruises that day. People would scream is that a boy or a girl fighting out there. After than incident people would laugh at me and would even call me , " Blackbelt." Oh man that week was the most humiliating week of my life.

How is this related to the theme?

My dishonesty not only led to me losing the fight ,but I felt humiliated in front of everyone. This shows no matter how confident I spoke when I told people I was a blackbelt the truth found it's way out. This proves how being honest is always the best wat to go.
