         <description><![CDATA[<p>On April 12, 1861 the battle of fort Sumter occurred. No one ended up being killed and the fort ended up surrendering. The confederate states of America ended up starting the war with the first shot at the United States of America military in Fort Sumter South Carolina.          <title>First Battle of Bull Run</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Union had the first shot of July 21, 1861. This was the first real battle of the civil war which causes ultimately many more. The end of this battle resulted in confederate on top and the Union retreating back to Washington D.C.          <description><![CDATA[<p>On January 1, 1863 every slave in America was free. ¨shall be thenceforward and forever free¨-Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was freeing people that he didn't necessarily control. doing this Lincoln shortened the war by taking resources from the south and taking away much of there strength. Many of the freed slaves joined the north side of the war also making the north very much stronger.          <description><![CDATA[<p>Robert E. Lee wanted to attack and be on the offense and take action against the Union army in its own land. He was hoping for not get Lincoln to get reelected after this and build comfort for Virginia after his expectations of victory. This was the largest battle ever fought on the North American continent. 170,000 people fought with over 40,000 casualties.          <description><![CDATA[<p>After two attempts of Booth trying to kidnap Lincoln he decided he had to be killed. In the middle of the night Both went into the presidents box with a derringer pistol in his right hand. He jumped over and ended up breaking his leg due to the fall.
