Moodboad from wider research. Through the initial concept sonder, I was inspired to explore human anatomy and how it connects the consciousness. Upon further research, I found out the nervous system or the nerve cells which relay messages across the body which allows essential functions like breathing, walking and thinking. They influence cognitive abilities, memory and behaviour.

I came across artists like Iris Van Herpen who utilises human anatomy in their body of work. Through this we discovered the red string theory which proposes that there are invisible red strings that connects those who are destined to meet regardless of time and place. We linked this back to the initial concept sonder and decided to use canon, call and response as choreographic devices to showcase the meeting and colliding of different individuals to portray human connection and they influence an individual's behaviour and emotions.

Creative brief and task distribution

We summarised the ideas and inspiration behind the movement choice, staging, visuals and music. We briefly wrote down keywords that best conveyed the theme and distributed the tasks amongst ourselves to ensure everyone is up to date with their roles. This ensured our creative brief where we summarised the theme of our piece was coherent.

We created a mindmap that explored the concept of sonder. We explored the music choices, choreographic devices and audience reaction to navigate the choreography and movement direction for the piece. This helped us establish the intention behind the piece.

We set 15 minutes to come up with 5 different characters and intentions with keywords that we later chose to portray in our piece. This ensured all the dancers had intention behind their movements. We then explored sequences and movements that highlighted the intentions and identified the theme.

We came up with sequence that showcased the characters and intentions. We decided to keep this formations as it best portray the theme of our piece as it was set on tram.

In this section, we highlighted the collision of different characters and how there's no human connection yet. As the piece progresses and the individuals connect with each other there's human connection and it is portrayed through sequence where we uses choreographic devices such as call and response and canon.

I explored lights as props and used it as stimuli for my piece. I also wrote down to do list in order to organise and manage my time to ensure I finish the tasks in effective and productive manner.

I explored different pieces and wrote down ways in which I can use the prop to develop my movements. I broke down the ways the prop is used and used everyday movements and came up with sequence by putting the moves together and creating a rhythm.

I explored various images and settings that best portray the theme of my piece. These pictures helped me establish and set overall mood for my piece. Through this I decided to utilise lights as props.
