Over the course of 40 years from 1949 to 1989 456 nuclear tests were conducted here. Little care was taken in saftey mesures during these tests so as a result over 1.5 million people were eposed to nuclear fallout during those 40 years. This site is important as it were the soviet union detonated their first atom bomb, officialy starting the nuclear arms race.</p>]]></description>

He was also a babtist minister. He died on </a>April 4, 1968 when he was assasinated outside of the Lorraine motel in Tennessee. He was important for expanding the rights of black people living in america at the time.</p>]]></description>

The wall was built in 1961 by the german democratic republic in order to keep the soviet controlled population in east berlin from escaping to west berlin. West berlin often refered to as the Wall of shame as it was sad that the soviets needed a giant wall to keep their people from leaving. The wall officially came down on nov. 9th 1989 during the peacfull revolution. The Berlin wall is imposrtant as it marked what Political leaders were willing to do in order to protect their ideology's.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On March 28th 1979 a series of mechanical malfunctions led to the main coolent loop of the reactors leaking large amounts of water. The loss of coolant eventually led to the partial meltdown of the TMI-2 reactor. Luckily there were no deaths or environmental damage, only a small amount of radioactive gas was released. However the accident heightened anti-nuclear safety concerns among the general public and led to new regulations for the nuclear industry.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Suez crisis started on the 29th of october, 1956 when french and isreali forces invaded Egypt. The main purpose of the invasion was to re-open the <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straits_of_Tiran">Straits of Tiran</a> and the <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_of_Aqaba">Gulf of Aqaba.</a> Great brittain also joined france and isreal on Nov. 7 after an ultimatium for a ceasefire was denied. Both the USA and the USSR condemmend the invasion leading to the embarsing retreat of Britain and France. The crisis helped to increase U.S involment in the middle east. The suez crisis is also important as it marked the end of Britain and France as major world powers.</p>]]></description>
