- It had 11 verses

- The tone was quite neutral as the verses notes remained the same throughout. It was more speak-singing which gave it that neutral tone.

- It mimics the true story of the man Vincent Lingiari (who is mentioned name for name throughout this song) who finally stood up to the cattle farmers that were exploiting the aboriginal workers by either paying them miniscule amounts or nothing at all; all whilst using the Aboriginals’ land 

- So, this song describes the circumstances in which they were in and how this man led a strike for all the cattle workers to not get a pay rise but to get get their land back

- This song was used as a device to let the public and future generations know of the Aboriginal Land Rights’ Movement which assisted in shaping Austrlain history and culture today.

- The song inspired other works by an Aboriginal Artist called Archie Roach & Sara Storer who began to write and perform songs about the Australian land, Stolen Generation and the mistreatment of Aboriginals. 

- It has a 4 note chord progression; C Am Em G

- Has a very repetitive tune 

-The lyrics tell a story of a historical event

-Australian Country style music; use of guitars, didgeridoo, harmonica, banjo 

- It was created to raise awareness to this issue for future generations to realise what the Aboriginals had gone through

- Well after nearly 25 years of the production of the song I is still remembered to this day as the chorus has been reprived in many advertisements to this day; which keeps the song and story alive. Also, its lyrics and purpose are studied in schools as it discusses the vitality of it in shaping Australia’s culture much alike how Martin Luther King Jr shaped the African American culture. This has been seen as Australian’s equivalent.

Girl finds a person on their knees, crying over a burning house

Mysterious voice: “I sense cruelty and desperation, a dangerous mix ...”

Girl extends her hand out to try and get the persons attention

Person on their knee’s looks up and says “Why Faith?”

Section 2:
Girl is sleeping in her bed

Woman from the forest walks in with some clothes in her arms

Woman puts clothes away and finds drawings done by the Girl

Drawings are of family without the woman

The woman goes into the kitchen, making a lot of noise

The girl wakes up and goes to see what the noise is

Girl peeks through the door to hear the woman and a man speaking

Man: “You can’t blame her, she’s our daughter”

Woman: “no, your daughters a monster”

Man: “how can you say that?”

Woman: “you know its true”

Girl runs back to her room

Man: “She just wants her mum back, wouldn’t you?”

Girl cry’s in the corner

Orb on the bedside table glows

Mysterious voice: “It is not too late for you, my love. Let me in. Remove your chains.”

Girl looks to the orb, tears in her eyes

[Transition to section 2/dance sequence]

Section 3:

*takes place directly after the opening*
Woman: “You’ve ruined everything”

The girl reacts frightened

Woman takes the orb from the Girls hand

Mysterious voice: "I ask nothing of you, but to, always, remember who you are. And who you can be.”

Woman screams and throws the orb to the ground

The Girl screams back in anger

The orb stops mid-air and rings of fire emanate from it

The orb bursts open and wave of fire bursts out
