Irresponsible Money Decision- Impulse Mall Purchases

There are sometimes where I go to the mall, and find clothes I really like, and then all of a sudden lose track of an appropriate range/budget. I can usually prevent myself from buying a singular high-priced item, but I run into trouble when I find a bunch of cute, relatively inexpensive items. My decision to spend this money has consequences because then I have less money in my account, so instead of feeling safe and secure and proud of my account, I must worry about any and all future purchases (or expenses)

Short-Term and Long-Term Goals

-A responsible short- term goal I have for myself (in the future) is once I have a job and steady income, I hope that I will create a budget for myself- in order to keep track and correctly manage my finances. I think it's important to be aware and in control of the amount you spend each month; it will force me to be more responsible with my money.
-A responsible long-term goal I have for myself (in the future) is to be conscientious and aware when making expensive purchases such as a home, a car, and anything else in which interest and payments are involved. I hope that I am able to carefully evaluate my ability to comfortably afford and maintain payments based on whatever career I choose.

Financial Decisions at Different Stages in Life

-Young Childhood: When my grandparents would take me to a toy store and ask me what I wanted, secretly I would allow the price of the item to be a factor. It was more subconsciously thinking of whether spending a certain amount of money was equivalent to the joy I would have with the toy
-Elementary School Age: For awhile, I attempted to do chores, and my parents attempted to incentivize me with money. They "discussed" and "considered" my opinion on what I thought was a fair amount
-Teenage Years: Making decisions on whether I should spend my money on clothes, or how much money I should when going out to eat with friends. I sometimes choose the decision that is more economically logical, then what I would (on impulse) enjoy.
-Now: I must make a decision about where I want to attend college. A big part of that decision deals with the cost of the institution, and whether the more expensive schools are really worth it in the end.
“As you grow older, money will continue to mean different things to you.” (Personal Finance 5).
