         <description><![CDATA[<div>metaphor- richer than a king <br>personification- "he glittered when he walked." This is to show that he was very wealthy.<br>metaphor- "we went without meat, and cursed the bread." This emphasizes that they sacrificed eating food that cost a lot and only ate bread. <br>irony- "and put a bullet through his head." this shows that even though he was rich he wasn't happy with his life. It went unnoticed and people believed he was alway happy. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The poem "Richard Cory" has a connection to <em>Night</em> because in both the poem and <em>Night</em> there are characters who seem happy but are actually depressed. In the poem, that character is Richard Cory. Everyone thinks he is happy because he is rich, but in reality he was depressed. In Night, most of the inmates seem happy about being in Buna, but after a little while they become depressed and sad about their situation. </div>]]></description>
