For this sculpture, I used the deconstructive process and I deconstructed my face. Instead of having 2 eyes, I made the sculpture have 4 and I broke them into the shape of the eye whites and the iris. The eyes are also larger than regular eyes. The sculpture only has one ear and I added it to an irregular location for an ear to be. Additionally, the sculpture has 2 mouths and two pony tails placed in somewhat unusual positions. The main elements of art I used are form and color. Form was used to make the head, lips, eyes, and hair. Color was used throughout the sculpture on almost every shape and form. The two principles of art used were balance and texture. In order to balance the sculpture, I added a pony tail to the top and one to the bottom. I also tried to fill up the space on the front of the sculpture. I attempted to add texture to the hair by curling it around my finger. A new technique I learned and tried was using “L tabs” for attachment. During this class, the soft skills I learned and used most were adapting to requirements in my art and also working under time limits.

Two elements of art I used were shape which I did to make cylinders and the base the other element I used was color where I used a mix of warm and cool colors. One of the principles of deign I used was pattern and I repeated the cylinder shape the other principle I used was emphasis making the floating part obviously floating but also a mix of cool and warm colored that are different than the orange and purple. A soft skill I used was changing it to stay balanced by adding the wire at the bottom to connect the sculpture to the base another soft skill I used was time management where I planned out how to use my time to make each part of the sculpture using some days to make the form of the sculpture and the other to color and stabilize it.

I used color, and shape as my top two elements of art. I colored the the hexagons and shapes, and cut out shapes. I used patterns by refusing the hexagons and I used emphasis by painting the bottom shapes black and white. Technique that was beneficial was knowing what formalistic meant. Two soft skills that helped through this class was teamwork and communication. I just thought this project would be cool and fun to do. The top three elements I decided to choose were form, color and shape. This formalism project was mainly taking shapes and turning them into an abstract structure hanging on a string. The 2 elements of art used in my sculpture are shapes and color. I used different shapes to create a more abstract style. I used primary colors and green because I thought they looked cool with the shapes. The principles of design used in my sculpture are movement, repetition (of shapes), and color. I learned how to sew using the thread on the base of the project.

For my project I chose a formalistic idea within my sculpture. I also chose to use different sizes of a triangle for my repeating shape to bring together these extravagant shapes which are two dimensional. I created forms by leaving open spaces within my shapes of the triangles in different areas. The top elements used in my sculpture are form and color I used form by using repeating shapes in a geometric form. I used color by the repetition of gold and blue. The two principles of art I used were repeating pattern of prisms and balance because the wood is holding up the prisms and the sticks are holding it together as well. A technique I found beneficial was using the sticks to help hold my project together. And the two soft skills that helped throughout my final sculpture were concentration and critical thinking throughout this to come up with cool ideas.
