Rene Descartes thought about what defines truth. Since this question is so broad he focused specifically on how to prove that he existed claiming that the ability to think that you didn't exist proved that you did. This belief in questioning and though was shared by Francis Bacon, who supported the idea of question what you've been told, and how you can only know something is true if you have proven it scientifically.

Galileo invented the telescope and confirmed the theories of Copernicus. It was huge because proof was not something the church had. He was the first to see the planets and know the Milky Way was a collection of stars. Descartes was "The father of modern philosophy." He questioned what is truth and said "I think therefore I am." He used mathematics and logic to solve problems and wondered how to classify what is real and what is false. - Kiara Davis

Copernicus challenged the idea Of the Catholic Church that the earth is the center of the earth. For 6 years he studied the stars movement and patterns, and came up with the idea the the sun was the center of the universe, and that we live in a Heliocentric universe. He also came up with the ideas that planets followed an elliptic circle of movement, rather than a perfect circle. -Gloria F.

Galileo Galilei is a scientific revolution "scientist". He invented a lot of useful inventions like the telescope to prove that the sun is the center of the universe and not the earth, and knowing the milky way is a bunch of stars. What Galileo brought to the scientific revolution was, proof that the solar system is not round but equatial and the sun being the center of the universe.

Galileo- Galileo backed up Copernicus about his findings on astronomy. His dad wanted him to become a doctor, but he was so interested in math, he turned his dad down. Galileo used the telescope all the time. He found the moons of Saturn, imperfections on the sun, the solid system was not completely round, but mostly round with a tilt. Galileo took his telescope and findings to the church to show the pope what he discovered. They turned him down and told him not to teach anybody about what he found. A couple years later, he wrote a book about astronomy and mentioned the solar system we know today. The church took that very negatively and told him he had to announce that he was wrong or else he would be executed.
Renè Descartes- Rene took math and science in his findings. He completely discarded what the church told him and went off on his own. He said that everything was false until proven to be true. Everything the church has told him, didn’t believe unless there was math involved.
