These people have college degrees and are considered responsible enough to take care of other people's children. They should also be considered responsible enough to control the temperature in their own room. They should not have to bother the custodian to get the temperature in their room adjusted-this is how the system is set up now. It is very hard to decide when to have the custodian adjust the temperature in the fall and spring, as needs done every year to maintain optimal temperatures. The temperature outside greatly affects the temperature in the room, and there are always going to be days in the spring and fall when the thermostat is not set to what it needs to be. AND every room should have both heating and cooling. How is your attitude about learning/teaching affected when you are either freezing or sweating? This might help them take their tests faster, and take their test-taking more seriously. For our CTE offerings most areas have moved to a Tech center for the advanced offerings with lower level offerings at the high school. This Tech center may offer all necessary classes for its students as well. Flexibility in requirements and scheduling is critical.
