4.Provide post-it notes for students to capture their thinking.  This allows the reading to be more purposeful.
5. Using the Stamina poster to reinforce the reading behaviors that are expected. Refer to the poster.  Teacher monitor student behaviors, "to identify what does it looks like in my classroom."
6. Creating comfortable reading spaces in the room to increase engagement.
7. Incorporating "partner" reading where students are able to support the reading behaviors of each other. 
8. Scheduling time for independent reading for teachers.

1. Define independent reading time with teacher schedules.
2. Create anchor charts
3. Planning and modeling independent reading behaviors. Incorporate the "Just Right" books anchor chart. Discuss a balance of books.  Encourage the enjoyment of reading.
