1. A solid is a substance that has a definite shape and volume. All the particles in a solid are severely close together. If a solid is a ice cube then it would be able to melt and turn into liquid if heat was melting it.
2. A liquid is a substance that has a definite volume but no definite shape. The particles of liquid can move by gliding past each other. A liquid can take the shape of the object that is holding it. Liquids can change by evaporating into the air.
3. A gas is a object without a definite shape of volume. A gas can be squeezed into a smaller volume. Gas is always bouncing off objects and changing directions.
4. Plasma is when atoms break down into parts that have electric charges. This happens at very high temperatures.

A solid is a type of matter where the particles are close together and have a definite shape and they vibrate in place.
A liquid is a type of matter where the particles are NOT in a definite shape, and they spread out into the shape of the object, so if I poured water into a bottle, it would spread out into the shape of the bottle and it will try to get to the top of the shape.
A gas is a substance that doesn't have an exact volume, and they spread out while floating, bouncing off of surfaces, so hydrogen molecules would bounce off of surfaces.
Sometimes at VERY high atoms can break down into smaller parts that have electric charges, this is called a plasma. Plasma has no shape/volume, and it conducts electricity.A lot of planets are made of plasma, but mostly satrs are,

Mater changes because how the particles are arranged and

1. A solid is a substance that has a hard shape. And also has volume, the particles of a solid and stay in the same place and don´t slide very easily
2. A liquid can become a solid and a liquid by melting it does not have a real shape but it does have a volume it moves freely between
3. Gases don´t always have a shape or a volume there particles are far apart compared to a particle of a solid the gas will spread out evenly.
4. Plasmas or wired they sometimes break down atoms and ake electric charges its like a gas but has no volume. but it also conducts electricity

The first state of matter, is called solid. A solid has a definite shape. You can ,measure the volume and weight of solids. The atoms of solids are clumped up together, taking a form of a shape. Sometimes, you can change solids to a liquid, by melting it. For example, if you melt lead, it will turn into a liquid. this is called chemical changes.
The second state of matter is liquid. Unlike solids, liquids do not have a definite form, or shape. The atoms liquids take the shape of the container it is in. You cannot measure the weight of liquids, but you can measure the volume. Some liquids can turn into solids and gases.
The third state of matter, is gas. Like liquids, gases do take the shape of the container they are in. If the gases are not inside any container, they will spread as far as they can. Unlike solids, the atoms inside gases are not clumped up together. They float around the setting there are in, bumping into each other, and bouncing away. Gases can turn into liquids, but according to my knowledge, gases don't turn into solids.
The Fourth state of matter is plasma. Th atoms inside, break down into electric charges, making plasma. Plasma has no volume. Lightning is a form of plasma.
