It was a very dangerous time. The Nazis broke in the Jews’ homes and stripped all their belongings. They took all the Jewish men and boys. Later they sent all the Jewish women and children to the train station and took them out of the German village. Everyone—including Christians—was very afraid of the Nazis and dissension of any kind was severely punished with harsh prison terms or death.
