This is a yearly event organised by Jessica Glaser lecturer at the University. Learners were introduced to a plethora of careers and courses they can study after completing their level 3 course. Students had a tour of the university and participated in workshops to give them first hand experience of different art specialisms. Learners got involved in a fine art, screen school and screen printing workshop. Learners also learnt about university life and what to expect. At the event young people will had the opportunity to:  
  • Meet other young creatives with a passion for arts and culture in the West Midlands
  • Share their experience of taking part in arts and culture
  • Work together to identify some of their key values, priorities and ideas for arts programmes and projects for, with and by children and young people
  • Develop their leadership skills

We got our level 2 and 3 art students involved in this opportunity where they produced THANK YOU NURSE CARDS. That have been delivered to nurses during this festive session and beyond. 

Letween shared some lovely feedback on the cards that students created. The nurses that received the cards are said, thank you to all students and tutors involved. She also said that the cards are sooo precious because they are being hand made , and the fact that the thank you is coming from someone the nurses have never met and will possibly never meet , is producing an overwhelming experience of gratitude:) I had a nurse stating they have been qualified for more than 20years and “no one has ever given her a thank you card “

Students came up with ideas on the theme of the evening, the setup. Students also put up the exhibition which included their work and their peers, along with creating labels for the work. On the night photography students took photos and videoed the evening, students also created art workshops for parents/guardians to get involved with. Some students toured parents/guardians around the exhibition and college.
