Perhaps you could try out hands-on activity with them on identifying perpendicular and parallel lines, before moving on to SLS. They might require the hands-on activity to help them visualise better.

A: How do you ensure/check that students add into their notebooks after class TAG?

G: Can suggest to get students to use different coloured pens. Black for draft 1, blue for draft 2 - add on, purple for draft 3 - add on etc.

A - Just wondering how do u engage those who do may not do so diligently or did it wishy washyly.

G - Perhaps choose one or 2 comprehensive ones to display it under Math column on noticeboard to serve as reminders for the rest?

Yes, it is definitely metacognition. When you get your students to spot their mistakes (making them more aware), reflect on then regulate their learning. All these enable the students to take more control of their own learning.

• I like how you use manipulatives (even real money) in your teaching.
