Togheter they created the cubist style of painting. One of the first artist to experiment with this new style was Juan Gris .This Painting portrait of Pablo Picasso. Cubism was important because it was the first style of abstract art and it influenced a lot of other artists. Cubism was a new style of art. Cubist artists used geometric shopes to represent peaple and objects in their paintings. The paintings weren' t realistic. They had a lot of separate parts and they locked a mosaic. Picasso, Braque and Gris didn' t copy real images. They painted the images they saw in their minds. They focussed on the charateristic parts of aw image and they often included different perspettives of the some image in the some picture.
