If this imprint fills in with minerals from sediment and groundwater, it can harden to form a fossil. This fossil is called a cast fossil. The fossilized imprint is called a mold fossil.this is my favorite fossil because it is founded in rocks or clay which is so cool to break open a rock and see a fossil also you can find them every where in the world,

As said in a cK-12 article about fossils, Fossils are the preserved remains of animals, plants, and other organisms from the distant past. My favorite fossil type is a petrified fossil. These are organisms whos structure has been replaced by minerals. Permineralization is what causes a fossil to be petrified. During permineralization, the structure of the organism is replaced with minerals due to groundwater dissolving the organic material. After the water evaporates, only the minerals remain which overtime, makes a petrified fossil. Petrified means turning into stone. These fossils can be found in many places around the world but they are commonly found near volcanoes.

A fossil is any remains of something that was once living. Preserved remains are fossils that are found intact or very close to intact, these fossils are rare because most fossils have damage due to weather or just sitting over time. I think that preserved fossils are cool because you get to see the entire creature and you can really picture what it was and what it looked like, where as most fossils you only find a small part of the creature. Some of the different ways they preserve fossils is by using petrifaction, amber, ice, and carbon imprint. They are found in the sea or water normally.

trace fossils are probably the common because most of them are new. any trace of a animal or other fossil is a trace fossil because a footprint or a claw mark might lead to bones of that animal. NOT DONE YET

a fossil is any evidence of life such as bones, footprints, imprints, etc.
trace fossils are probably the common because most of them are new. any trace of a animal or other fossil is a trace fossil because a footprint or a claw mark might lead to bones of that animal. NOT DONE YET

A fossil is ANY evidence of past life. my favorite type is either carbon film, which is basically just a 2D outline of the fossil, but I think I like petrified fossils more. A petrified fossil is a fossil that has had so much mineral replacement over time, that it effectively turns into stone. I found petrified wood at a park once, and it was really cool!

a petrified fossil is a mineral replacement turned turned into stone. petrified wood is the most common type followed by bones and rock. it can be found anywhere mainly near volcanoes and sedimentary rocks.

A fossil is any evidence or sign of past life! My personal favorite kind of fossil (Oh boy, how exciting) are preserved-remains fossils. It’s a bit odd to look at them on display in museums and remember that they’re actually just old preserved remains. Ah yes, I sure do love looking at preserved dead things with my friends. I’m sure you can relate. This kind of fossil can be found everywhere, well, if you can find 'em to begin with. Not exactly an easy task. Fossils are usually buried within sedimentary rock. Have fun trying to dig that out! Preserved-remains can be many different things, but they can also be pieced together to make...Dinosaurs! Or, the remains of a specific dinosaur rather. Of course, this isn’t just any preserved-remains fossil you can put into that Allosaurus you may or may not be building. You have to find the right remains, dig 'em up, and fix them up-because can you imagine what thousands of years trapped in rock would do to your bones? Point is, that’s pretty cool, right?
