This is the main laundry room for the housekeeping staff, it consists of heavy machinery and it is where we go to refill on sheets and all of our towels. All sheets have to be bundled into King or Queen sized for easy accessibility for the housekeepers to keep on schedule.

I had previously posted a picture of my work area. This is a picture of the area directly behind me (a lot more welcoming and vibrant). It is hard to tell, but the grout on the floor and the space in-between the ceiling panels is pink, to honor breast-cancer awareness. Employee Meeting

I did not get any pictures of the meeting because we were not allowed to be on our phones however, it was a great movie and I learned a lot of valuable information from it. It was a meeting with the United States Forest Service from locations such as Bradford, Warren, and Marienville Pennsylvania. We learned about invasive species to keep a look out for in the campgrounds, the rules and regulations amoungst the Allegheny National Forest. We were also able to have a nice company lunch at the end of everything. Since a lot of my co-workers are at different locations it was nice to finally meet everyone face-to-face rather than just through email.

New assignment unlocked! I was just brought on this assignment focusing on using this new software supered to help streamline our clients processes. It works as a chrome extension and can do things like send out an automated email, act as a support bot, and so much more. We are working on getting our clients set up with this so wish me luck!

I work in a field that clearly deals with human anatomy and would like to post the projects I am working on- but I can understand the subject matter may make some people uncomfortable. If I find downtime in between projects, which isn’t very often, I have time to continue my education by reading a chapter book. I was provided the book by our Data Analysis above to read. Attached is The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman. It is a great read and I highly recommend it to those who hope one day to start or manage a business. Even if you do not have interest in that, it shares a lot of information on other topics such as human behavior, thinking process, and other important everyday topics to help you succeed in any career. I am about half way through it and highly recommend it. It provides a very unique and simplified way of thinking.

Last week I got the opportunity to visit Paramount Senior Living at Polaris, our senior living facility located in Polaris,Ohio. During my two-day stay, I worked in the business office doing day to day operations. This included daily check deposits, handling petty cash, and keeping payroll updated. This is the storage area near the main hotel office for the lost and found. Housekeepers are required to bag and label all forgotten belongings left from guests with the room number, date and name of the housekeeper. This is to ensure responsibility between the staff and individual who reclaims the item.

We are a Green Hotel!

Something that I would like to mention about the hotel I am working at is that we are a naturally resourceful hotel. This is just one of the ways we conserve energy, that being the preservation of water consumption. To enforce this, we have a policy that regulates guests usage of our towels. If a guest hangs a towel, it means they are telling us “I will use this again”. If on the floor, it means it must be replaced. It is important to support these policies as to remain competently resourceful during a guests’ stay.

Weekly Inventory

Here is a photo from when I did inventory this week. Once a week, the manager has to count our inventory and order what we need for the week. In this photo, we are extremely low on drinks which means we need to order as soon as possible. Once I count our inventory, I call our supplier for an order/delivery.

Sauna room check

In our gym we have a sauna and steam room for our remembers to use. It is extremely important that staff on duty and the manager periodically checks these rooms during the hour. When doing a check, you want to make sure the members are awake inside, check to ensure the heat sensor is not blocked, and lastly make sure it is reset. These ensure that the sauna is working properly and that no members are falling asleep because it can be very dangerous.

Laundry Room

This is our laundry/maintenance room. It is in the basement and is not the most flattering place. This is where our maintenance staff will conduct their business. As a manager, I need to also check on this room to ensure all is smooth and we have enough towels. We have shower towels and small floor towels for the members to use. The laundry for these towels is a non stop process when the gym is open. The maintenance staff works from 8-11, so when the gym is open overnight, our one desk staff is in charge of doing the towels.

For the Clarion Chamber office I went through a box of newspapers to make clippings of anything that can be used for Marketing Materials. This also helped teach me about the Chambers history of contributions to community in a karate kid sort of way. What I mean is even something that seems menial and unimportant can teach a lot about what you are working for. I also delivered some checks for them to take to the bank for deposit, but I can't exactly take a picture of that for them.

As part of the umpiring internship, the umpire locker room lets umpires learn along with preparing. Umpires meet there before and after games for rules talks, jobs reviews, and thought prep for field tests. Interns are able to see how the officials can communicate as a team and also organize all of their equipment. They can see the way officials do routines before games too. The locker room does also build up a feeling of professionalism and friendship for the reason that it gives interns a look behind the scenes at what duties and teamwork are part of being an official at a high level.

These envelopes are left at each of our locations as an honesty system for campers to pay their site fee at the first-come, first-served sites that do not have campground hosts. The employees who do compliance checks at these locations bring me the fee envelopes from the pay tubes, and I put them into the Excel sheets for each campground. These envelopes come to me nearly every day so it definetly keeps me busy.

Breast Cancer Walk Flyer

This week I had the opportunity to create a TaTa-Toos team flyer for the Pittsburgh breast cancer awareness walk! The event is not until October, but we are trying to get a head start on fundraising for our team and the American Cancer Society! We will eventually start a tip board for fundraising, where people get a chance to win a $300 gift card to our studio, and all proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. One of my next projects is to work on a social media post that includes all of that information.

Prosthetic Process

I worked on making more prosthetic nipples, to display in the TaTa-Toos studio this week. A glimpse of what materials are used in this process are pictures above. The concave green discs are negative casts of peoples nipples, where we pour the silicone in to make our prosthetics. The measuring spoons are used to mix three different types of silicone (syringes in the small glasses) with the dyes (all of the little containers next to the frame, which is a display of the colors and their varied intensity).

This is the office for Marketing and Sales meetings, and it is also where I had my interview! Our Holiday Inn Express location is partnered and managed with Ark Hospitality, in which our revenue and sales are optimized by them. They also help oversee all back-office finances including accounting and payroll, as well as brand alignment for the location.

For example, the overnight desk attendent doesn't have a goal because it is members only overnight. Whenever I say I’m making social posts, this is generally the format. Though it is different for almost every client they will always be on google sheets. Depending on what platforms they use is how many we write, it also depends on if it’s text only of if we have an image or a blog to go with it. We can also see if they’ve been scheduled and for what date. I haven’t worked on a variety of clients social posts but for the ones I have it’s been very easy to understand the format even between clients.

CANNING DAY Video Shoot

Today at Thompson Island we’re canning a new beer called “Strawberry Crunch Rocket!” It’s one of the few new beers rolling out for the summer season, and I’m expecting this one to do well. Now that we’ve made the content and had it approved we move to the CRM and CMS platform HubSpot to schedule and post said social content. It pre-links to your clients accounts like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram as well as others so you have quick access. On the right when you put content in it’ll give you a preview based on what platform you’re posting on which is really helpful to see before scheduling. This is my first time actually scheduling but it was super quick and easy to learn!

Finished Prosthetic Nipples

A few days ago I shared a pic of the prosthetic process, so here are some finished products! The nipple on top has not been cut to size, so that gives you a glimpse of what a prosthetic looks like when you first peel it out of the mold. The bottom nipple has been cut to a circular size, but not all nipples are cut the same! This set is for display, not to be given to anyone, so we have some more freedom on what we get to do with the shapes, sizes, and colors. I enjoy making these, but I am obviously not an expert... I may need to take a class on color theory or something, to figure out how to color match a little better. Plus, trying to keep the thickness consistent is difficult! We have about three minutes to work with the silicone in the mold, before it starts to set, and getting things the way you want them in such a short session is something that certainly takes practice.

Fundraising Tip Board

Since TaTa-Toos has a team and is hosting a booth at the Pittsburgh Making Strides walk, we are trying to raise money for the American Cancer Society! One way is to donate directly to Making Strides and join the team, but a different way we fund-raise is through tip boards (shown above). You purchase a tip, usually for $20, but we are doing $10 for this one since it has not sold well over the past year, and you get entered to win a $300 gift card! The winner also usually gets to donate the proceeds to a charity of their choice, but, as I mentioned above, with Breast Cancer Awareness Month coming up, we will be donating the money to our Making Strides Team, which directly benefits the American Cancer Society. I am working on creating a Facebook post to sell the rest of this board and start a new one so we can surpass the money we raised last year for this event!

So this is an even that my company is helping Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau and Warren County Visitors Bureay help put on. I wanted to share a project I have been working on. This is just part of a sales toolkit I made for our department. It shares a ton of important info about current customers and who directly works with them. The idea is to make it easier for others to find information when dealing with certain customers. This is probably one of the more time-consuming jobs that I was handed. I have to take a piece of paper from the left, fold it up like the middle, and then put it in an envelope. It sounds easy and it is, but the size of the stacks of paper that I have to fold and put into the envelopes are crazy. It has to get done and I am able to do it. That's the long and short of it, and since I am doing it that leaves a whole lot of time for the other people I work with to do more important tasks like planning out events like ALF.

I've been hearing a lot about AI replacing humans, so I figured I'd post something positive. AI tools for investing now have the ability to use qualitative data, like words instead of quantitative data like numbers. I decided to post about it because as AI progresses, it seems to only take jobs, but this actually opened new possibilities instead. The photo shows how qualitative data like words & sentences can be correlated with anything. The difference is that it isn't just based on the amount of times the word is used, but on context they are used, similar to how humans interpret language. The darker areas are more correlated.

Routine Walk Arounds

The gym I work at is 24/5, so during the week we have 1 staff member who works overnight. It does not get that busy where we need more. I arrived in the morning and I did my routine walk around to check the facility. I noticed the door handle on the back door was missing! This is very bad because we have a back yard where anyone can end up walking in. The overnight staff did not notice this, and it was due to him not checking the rooms throughout the night. Very important to always do routine walk arounds especially when you have a shift alone.

These signs go on the site posts at every single campground. They have been around for a while, so the ones we have currently are worn out and getting old. The company we got the from the first time no longer does the services we need, so I had to put it into my own hands to design new signs and find a company that will print the amount we need. I was able to find a small business in a neighboring town to do it for us, and I picked them up the other day. Now I get to go to the campgrounds and hang them up!

Change for Change

My coworker and I came up with a plan to collect change to donate to Making Strides! We have these large pink bottles that we are going to place at our front desk & the front desks of our neighboring businesses. The goal is to get people to toss their pesky loose change into the bottles as they are leaving, and donate it. It is a fun idea (and we have collected over $80 from it so far!) but we have been rolling the change by hand, which can get a little tedious! It is all worth it, though :)

A/C Leak

Upon opening the gym on Monday, I walked in to discover the A/C was not shut off the night prior. As you can see it leaks a ton! This not only ruins the flooring, but it is also a slipping hazard. Thankfully I arrived early, that gave me time to clean up before opening. This was on the main walkway when you walk into the gym.

The gym has 8 fire extinguishers throughout the building that need to be checked by the manager once a month. I did it today. You just need to check it, and write your name and date. That is important in case the fire department comes in for an inspection. That could easily shut us down!

Today we revealed the winner of our lottery tree tip board fundraiser! I was asked to make a post for it on Facebook to announce who won. The lottery tree was our quickest tip board to get bought up, I was impressed. The winner is going to receive 100 of the $1 scratch off tickets (example pictured above). That also means we will be donating the remaining $400 to the American Cancer Society, yippee!
