She gave lots of opportunity for the students to practice the concept as well.
Grows:
I would suggest using less "attention grabbers" as it pulled away from the content of the lesson. Also, show the standard in the language of the student so they can see what they will be learning today and how it will effect them in the future.

Standard IV
Glows:
It is evident that the teacher took the time to plan the lesson out. She connected the lesson with what they had previously learned and built the math lesson on those topics. At the end of the lesson, she allowed the students to work on practice problems to check their understanding on dry erase boards. Instead of just giving students work, she wanted to check their understanding of the material and asked them probing questions to further that knowledge.
Grows:
I would ask the teacher to consider incorporating the students in the initial lesson more. She spent the majority of the time at the board, explaining the material. Invite the students up to the board to learn the material and test their knowledge, as them to explore a problem in pairs to see if they can figure out how to find slope, use a real life example, etc.
The other area I would ask the teacher to consider working on is her questioning. The majority of the questions were lower and surface level questions. Our classrooms are full of diverse learners, even in AIG or Co-teaching environments. Ask varied levels of questions grow all students.

Standard IV
Glows:
- The teacher engaged students in many different ways of learning styles. Auditory, visual, kinesthetic learners were all appealed to in this lesson.
- The teacher used great questioning in the lesson. She also differed the levels of questioning for students as a way of differentiating the lesson a bit.
Grows:
- I feel that the students that already had the skill mastered were quite bored. It was a lengthy lesson to have some students simply learning already known content when they could have been engaging in enrichment activities.
- Perhaps the activity could have been used for the students to generate the problems on their own after effective modeling.

Standard IV
Glows:
I love how data tracking was a huge part of the lesson. Students took ownership in their work and showed pride. The classroom atmosphere was supportive and warm and based on a growth mindset.
Grows:
I suggest that the teacher have a more structured way for students to present their work. When the student presented his work to the class, he was very engaged but I could see that many of his classmates were not. I also suggest more higher level questioning techniques.

Glows:
This high school economics teacher is using a simulation activity to teach his students about wages, supply, demand, industry. He has planned the lesson very well by having students role play a few careers in today's industry.
He facilitates the lesson by having pre-picked students to play the companies. Students understand what is going on, they are using the vocabulary for the lesson, and they are critically thinking through negotiations. The students who represent companies need workers; the students who are workers need the companies to hire them.
In this video, you can see that it was prepared for some other purpose. While he is narrating the lesson, he reflects on his practices, students' levels of engagement and understanding.
Grows:
I would have liked to see the students have more time in the simulation. They were given two 5 minute sections. I think if this simulation were expanded to be a two or three day lesson, depending on scheduling, each student would have been able to adequately participate and learn.

Perhaps the seating could be adjusted to better accommodate the learning environment.
- The teacher verbalized her praise throughout the entire lesson. Non-verbal rewards could be implemented to further enhance the nurturing environment.

Standard IV: Teachers Facilitate Learning for Their Students
Glows:
-The Teacher began with a discussion on The Middle Passage and called on each group to input their thoughts in order to get everyone to participate. He did an amazing job of keeping students engaged with very little down time.
- He then went on to have students close their eyes and envision what scenario he was placing them in and then proceeded to do role playing. These methods kept all students engaged and thinking deeper than they would have otherwise. He then had students turn and talk for 30 seconds and then each group had to share out what they discussed.
Grows:
- It appeared that a lot of activities were crammed into small blocks of time. While it kept the pace moving and did not allow for students to be bored, it did not allow for students who needed more time to have it.
- Instead of simply asking how students feel, it may have been helpful to ask questions in regards to how they could relate the content to other areas of what was
