Remake of "People never notice anything." ~Holden Caulfield by Hill

J.D. Salinger gave Holden this profound statement long before Twitter and Instagram feeds. Is there truth to his statement and is it worse or better now? What are some things that ARE noticeable? In the spirit of Holden, take the time to notice something your classmate wrote and comment back.

People are so caught up in their own lives/mishaps that they let the people around that pass by or go unnoticed. The reason I used the word some, is because sometimes you do notice things going on in relation to the people around you but even then they’re easy to forget. This is not necessarily a completely bad thing, it’s okay to get caught up in your own life especially in adolescence, but I think it impacts us positively if we stop and take a look at (or notice) what’s occuring around us.

I think that there is only some truth to this. It depends on individuals. Some people are good at hiding their emotions and feelings, and create a character for themselves, so that people around them can't really tell that something is off. Other people are much more observant, and have the ability to see small details in different aspects of life and people. I also think that people notice more than they let on, but a lot of the time they just don't care enough about it, so it's like they didn't notice.

I think that this statement has a lot of truth to it. Most people just look at a person’s appearance or what their social media profiles say, and they never look at the person themselves. People only notice the things that everyone else notices, but no one notices any of the small details that make a person who they are.

People are so concerned about themselves they don't take the time to notice anything else. Our observations are irrelevant and they aren't always true. So yes, I agree with what Holden said. People should be more open to observation and take the time to notice something important.

I feel like there is some truth to this statement, but I don't feel like it is necessarily a bad thing that this is the case. I feel people more easily notice things and events that pertain to them directly, and the more distant something is the less one would care about it. If something doesn't necessarily pertain to you, not noticing i isn't a big deal if it wouldn't have a direct impact on your life.

I feel like people notice things, but not if they aren't blatant. I don't think this is a bad thing, most of the time it's good because this means people aren't in each others' business. Nowadays you just have to make your struggle known, but I'm sure people would notice if someone was spiraling out of control and drinking and doing drugs.

The things that are noticeable are more external things I believe, such as appearance or clothes.
