More than just a movement.

Those who were apart of the Abolitionist movement began to see it for more than just a social movement. People saw how morally wrong slavery was and began to take huge steps in order to rid of it for good. Everyone who went an extra mile to help the enslaved become free were willing to fight every step of the way. For example: John Brown and his family went to Kansas and fought on its anti-slavery side during its "bleeding" period. This approach lead to the death of 5 pro-slavery settlers, and in the end, himself included. Those who went and fought on the front lines were enraged and wanted to fight for what they believed was right, this increase in tension between abolitionists and those who were pro-slavery showed how great a division there was in just a single topic. Division ran rampant through America, a war to see who was truly right was bound to happen.
- Angela Mohanan
