A partnership is "an arrangement between two or more people to oversee business operations and share its profits and liabilities. In general partnership company, all members share both profits and liabilities." In Early Childhood partnership should be teachers and parents working together for the well being and also to encourage the children social, emotional and cognitive development at school and at home so that the children could be in their highest capacity at school. My mom, when my little brother was in elementary school, she used to constantly talk to the teacher about my brother's work at school. And my mom even gives the teacher her phone number so that if my brother is not excelling as he should be , to talk to my mom and come up with ideas that will help my brother with his school work.

Leobernie Saint-Pierre

~The partnership means parents and school working together. It is a parent’s engagement in a child’s education and parents’ involvement in a child’s activities for academic success. In childhood settings, partnership is supporting teachers with anything that they might need help with because parents have the power to make an impact in the child’s education. When my son was in Preschool, I used to make homemade playdough for the class. Sometimes, during special days, the teacher may need help planning class parties, so parents can bring food and drinks. Teachers will need parent chaperons during the class field trips. There are many ways parents can help during the school year because teachers alone cannot educate children.
~Choeying Tashishar~

A partnership is when the parent and teacher work together for the best of the child education. A partnership in early childhood education setting should be the teacher listening to the parents and vise versa for suggestions, working together to figure out the Childs interest, strengths and goals. The teacher should try to involves the parent in more activities, field trips and to participate in program decision making. An example I had was with my son in family daycare, they would have holiday parties and ask for our help. An example was for Halloween we had to help our kids at home make spiders so they can hand them as decorations, and bring in snacks an juices for the kids to take treats home.
-Esperanza Matilde

A partnership to me means a team. Someone you can depend on come to an agreement with for a common goal. In early childhood education settings partnership should look like teachers, principals, parents working together, involve in the child’s cognitive and behavioral development. It should look like parents and teachers sharing information on what the child is learning, their worries and the child strengths and ways they each can work together for the child to develop those skills needed. A successful early childhood partnership I have observe would be when my daughter was a toddler. Her teacher and I built a relationship, and I knew that she had the best interest for her. I was able to share with her what we were teaching my daughter at home and she worked with us on our goals. She was able to call me and let me know if my daughter was having a bad and explain the steps, she took to calm her. Hence when she did well in class she celebrated her all day and even told me before I picked her up from school so I too can celebrate or get her favorite snacks.

Partnership in a school setting should look like one who is helping one another to better themselves. For instance, teachers are in partnerships with students. Positive and harmonious interactions between early education programs and families promote family engagement and children’s developing.

Working as a Spanish tutor I noticed that the mother of one of my students asked me after each lesson about how her daughter was doing in learning another language, she asked me for strategies to help her daughter at home. I was willing to help the mother by giving her extra hand outs so her daughter could practice more at home. She shared with me her child’s schedules when she arrives home and also shared stories from the family members, from the grandparents and their pets. The outcome was that the child felt welcomed, positive and loved, she learned Spanish very well compared to the whole group of children.

Juana Vázquez

In an early childhood setting that team would be the students, teachers, administrators, principal, guidance counselor, parents basically everyone who is involved in the school. Working together to help the child in their developments, such as behavioral, social, motor skills and so on. An example of partnership would be at my current job. Currently i am working with the boys and girls club and my responsibility is making sure that the students are logged into their zoom meetings for their classes and not on other websites being distracted. I am partnering with their teachers in making sure that their students are learning, virtually. It is so easy for a 2nd grader to get distracted from their class especially since they are learning on a device and not in a classroom setting. Being able to support the children in their education.

Amadilyn Martinez

For Early Childhood the location can takes place in either school or home. It just depends on the communication and dedication the teacher and parent do when trying to help the child. The child plays a huge role too because he/she needs to in a certain location that will help them learn better. It can be at a school or house. One example would be my aunt and uncle, while they don’t get along together they put their differences aside and work together to raising their child. They think on the better future of their child and worry about their personal problems for another day.

- Henry Zhicay
