The fest consist on a battle of tomatoes along the streets. There are plenty of people who launch tomatoes each other.

About 10 AM the event stars with the “palo jabón” which consist on climp a greased pole to try to catch a ham on the top. When someone catch it then the battle starts.

Six trucks discharge about 150 tons of tomatoes along the streets where 22.000 people are wating to fight.

After one hour the battle ends. At this moment everything are tinted red and there are a tomato zumo rivers everywhere.

Finaly the streets are cleaned with presure water.

San Juan is a tradition that takes place annually on the eve of the Christian feast of the birth of Saint John the Baptist on June 24. It is common to make bonfires on the beach on June 23 to ward off bad energies and purify the environment.

In the case of La Vall, as there is no beach, people do it either in Xilxes or in Moncofa. In the afternoon, people go to the beaches and start lighting the fire and the fire stays lit until the next day.

It is believed that jumping over the fire or the waves on the beach allows you to make wishes and attract good luck.

This traditional festivity is celebrated from february to october every year depending where is celebrated.

Our country historically was invaded by different bands depending on his relligion. In this fest it is called ''moros'' and ''cristians'' and this celebration wants to explain and celebrate this history and the victory of ''cristians'' band.

Many people of each village meets and represent differents groups who battled for become the owner of this land, and this is called ''Filaes''.

There are many acts involving this festivity but the most important is the parade called ''Entrà'', where the differents ''Filaes'' represent whith traditional costumes of every band of the war. This is always accompanied by music band who play traditional music called ''marxes mores'' and ''marxes cristianes'', and they walk arround the village whit a special rythm. Another act is ''l'embaixà'' where the war between the two bands is represented by weapons and figths (always made by a professionals).

I really love this festivity because it explains part of the history of my village, and you can enjoy by participating in different acts or playing the traditional music.

This festival revives the tragical and beautiful legend of Teruel´s Lovers.

People from this village are dressed like in the 13th century for this event, and it looks like a huge street theatre, with actors and actresses acting there.

The Old Town of Teruel is decorated like a medieval village: with a medieval market, bonefires, dancers, artisans and musicians, at the same time that the story of the Teruel´s Lovers is performed.

This event is celebrated the second or the third weekend of February, and it has become the most important historical representation in Aragón.

Next year, the festival date will be from February 20 to 23.
