CUIN 7376 focuses on exploring and using a range of websites and web-based software commonly referred to as Web 2.0 tools and resources. These online materials include blogs, podcasts, wikis, social networks, online collaboration resources, and other assorted web-based platforms and programs that may be used to support instruction. In the course, we focus on how Web 2.0 tools allow users to create innovative content that can be shared with other users and discuss the impact of these web-based resources in expanding and transforming teaching and learning strategies.

I also thought it would involve a lot of reading about new online tools rather than trying them out. I was also expecting it to be more challenging and less fun. But, if I am being honest, this is the third course I have taken at U of H, and it is by far my favorite. 

During the course, I was exposed to a variety of new tools that I could use in my own classroom with my students. I appreciated the opportunities for challenging assignments because, like my students, there will always be people who need a challenge. For some assignments, I did participate in the challenge assignments and they were more fun than challenging. Not saying I didn't have trouble with some of the online tools, but as usual, I find my way around the problem by clicking different buttons until something happens. 

After this course, I learned that our world is shifting, and although online education isn't ideal, it is part of our reality. The best solution moving forward is to adopt tools such as Screencastify, Padlet, Canva, etc., and teach our students how to succeed with them. Not only will they be able to create different projects, but they also serve as wonderful teaching platforms.
